5 Trends I’ve Never Tried + Don’t Plan to Wear

Posted in Fashion
on October 11, 2017

There are so many trends that have come and gone over the years, and there are some trends that may last for a several seasons. After writing a post on the different shoe trends I’ve never tried, I thought it would be interesting to talk about other trends I’ve seen over the years that I’ve never tried regardless of popularity. It has been refreshing to see how minimalism plays a roll in my shopping habits because I don’t buy the latest trends as they come out. Instead, I work with what I have, and if I truly love something, I will buy it. Make sure to let me know what are some trends that you’ve never tried in the comments below!

1| Chokers

I really thought I was going to change my mind on this one because I LOVE how these look on other people. I have a cross necklace I wear every day, and I never take it off. So pairing anything with the necklace that isn’t rose gold doesn’t look right. So, I decided to give up on the idea of buying a choker for a trendy, fall outfit. I’ll leave this trend for the fashion bloggers on the Internet!

2| Bralettes

I would love to be able to pull this trend off, but I know it’s not happening. I’ve accepted it and plan to move on. You know you’re becoming an adult when you stop buying things that aren’t practical for you. Most bralettes aren’t comfortable or supportive enough, so I know it’s not the most practical thing to buy and wear. Instead of fighting it, I know it’s not something I’ll ever find in my closet, and I’m okay with it!

3| Kimonos

Yes, these were HUGE a few years ago, but I’m happy I didn’t jump on the trend because like most trends, they tend to fade out without a trace. Also, I don’t know how practical this would be in Western NY/PA where it’s below freezing for five months of the year. Again with making smart shopping purchases as an adult! If you know it doesn’t make sense for the region you live in, don’t buy it!

4| Overalls

Okay, I’m sure my mom put me in these when I was younger when I didn’t choose what I wore. Since then, I haven’t put on overalls, and I don’t plan to. Honestly, they wouldn’t flatter my figure, and I know I wouldn’t get use of of them like I would want. Nowadays, if I plan to buy something, I want to know that I’ll be able to wear it for work, errands, date night and every occasion in between. Overalls may be cute and trendy, but they are a trend I don’t plan to try.

5| Maxi Rompers

For two summers, I was all about rompers during my junior year of high school and my senior year of college. I wore the same few rompers over and over again without shame. But those rompers quickly faded, and I got rid of them all because I no longer wore them or loved them. This past summer, we were introduced to the maxi romper, which is combination of two trends I no longer have in my closet. So, this is something I don’t plan to wear anytime in the future because, like overalls, I don’t think I would get a lot of use out of it.

Have you tried any of these trends and love them? What trends haven’t your tried from this list, or any other trends you know you won’t be giving into anytime soon! Make sure to share everything in the comments below!

5 Looks I’m Lusting For: September

Posted in Fashion
on September 13, 2017

Is sweater weather really the best kind of weather? The answer is yes. Always yes to sweater weather.

I don’t know about you, but I am pumped for fall and all the cozy things in life. I’m ready for Bath and Body Works candles, the change in weather, sweaters, fall bucket lists (even though I don’t always get to do everything I want to on those lists). And, above all else, I’m ready for fall fashion, which is why I’m sharing five looks that are getting me so excited for the new season.

This sweater is what Autumn dreams are made of. I am on the hunt and I’m determined to find a long, open-front cardigan and I plan to wear every single day throughout the season. If you have any links from similar sweaters you own and love, PLEASE leave them in the comments below. My favorite thing about this type of cardigan is that it looks like a blanket, but you also look so dressed up!

Okay, I know we just got done talking about adorable, perfect sweaters, but hear me out on this one. I’m also loving how this looks so darn cute but she’s wearing a sweater, leggings and cute shoes. To be honest, I think it’s all about the neutrals. Nude is a color I’m lusting to own more of in my closet because I think it’s chic, classic and extremely versatile. If you have seen any nude sweaters, tops, etc., please share those with me as well!

I promise I’m not going to talk about the sweater because it’s evident that I’m in love with long, open-front cardigans and that isn’t going to end any time soon. So let’s move on to those adorable shoes. I’ve been loving loafers and masculine-style flats for fall. I’m sick of buying flats that are destroyed after a year because I wear them too much. I need shoes with a thick, durable sole and that will last with miles of walking. Make sure to send your recommendations my way!

You know those sweaters that you can wear with anything and everything? I feel like this sweater has tons of potential for versatility. I would love it casually with leggings or jeans, but I also feel like you can tuck it in to a skirt since it’s a thinner material. P.S. This is one of my favorite colors to wear during fall and winter. I never been an orange or red type of girl, so this is the perfect warm-tone color to get a small mix of both colors in there.

I always told myself that when I was older, I would wear cute heels all the time. Now, I’m more practical and I want shoes that are comfortable. But, I LOVE these shoes and how this entire look is pulled together with different shades of nude. I also love the sweater draped over the blouse. I’ve been only trying to achieve this exact look for years now, so if anyone has any tips on how to look cute and pull off this layered look, please let me know! P.S. that clutch is adorable and inspires me to carry less things so I can carry cute clutches, #amiright?

What looks have you been lusting for? What outfit is your favorite and most similar to your style? What are some fall trends you’re hoping to try this season?

7 Shoe Trends I’ve Never Tried [& Don’t Plan To Wear]

Posted in Fashion
on August 30, 2017

I’ve always been a pretty practical shopper. I was never the type of person who would buy something simply because other people had that item. In middle school, I wasn’t rushing to Hollister or Abercrombie & Fitch every single day for the newest arrival. (I did get several things from those stores over a few holidays, though.)

There are so many trends that I personally didn’t care for; and still don’t care for to this day. There are so many that I can separate them into different categories. Today, we’re talking about shoes. Make sure to leave a comment letting me know what shoe trends you’ve jumped on the bandwagon for and which ones you’ve never liked.

1| Ugg Boots

Ugh to Ugg boots. (See what I did there?) This one is pretty simple because I couldn’t understand how a pair of boots could cost $200. I felt like the majority of my friends who owned them were always afraid to wear them because they would get dirty and ruined way too easily. So you’re spending $200 on boots you don’t want to wear because you don’t want to ruin them. Yeah, no thanks.

2| Sperry’s

I never understood why these were so popular. But like Uggs, Sperry’s blew up in popularity when I was in high school; and every single person owned at least one pair. I remember girls in my classes would complain about the blisters they would get from first wearing them for awhile. So, again with buying something that you don’t even want to wear, but now you’re not wearing them because they’re not comfortable. It never made sense to me.

3| Adidas Sneakers

Would I wear them, maybe. But I’m probably not going to buy them regardless. I remember these were huge back in middle school. Then they were shoved in the back of everyone’s closets through high school, donated to charity by college. Now, post college, we are all buying our second pair. Funny how that works, am I right? I don’t even hate the brand or style of them, but I don’t see myself buying them because I’ve always been a Nike girl.

4| Birkenstocks

I’m sure they’re so comfortable because that is what their claim to fame is. In college, I felt like the hipsters were the first people to jump on this because that’s the actual definition of being a hipster. But, I never really saw the reason for the hype. $100 sandals that will definitely be too gross to wear after one summer of sweat and dirt. Yes, you’re right, that sounds so appealing. I’m more than fine with my inexpensive sandals to wear to the beach and during summer.

5| Converse Sneakers

Yes, really. Another pair of shoes that I know every single human being owns except for me. To be real, they make my feet look huge. I don’t know if that’s me feeling self conscious about wearing them, but they aren’t flattering on me at all. I want to like them because I feel like they’re everyone’s default choice when they need something comfortable, but I don’t see myself ever jumping on the converse kick.

6| Combat Boots

This simply comes down to style. Combat boots were never really my style. I never had an edgy look or edgy sense of style. I have always been a person who prefers to wear more classic pieces that will last for years to come rather than wearing things that are more trendy and don’t necessarily fit my style. So, they weren’t something I was interested in buying.

7| Crocs

No explanation needed.

So what shoe trends have you loved over the years; and what are the trends that you never got on board with? Make sure to share in the comments below!

5 Fashion Trends You Need!

Posted in Fashion
on May 11, 2016

You all know how much I love keeping track of new trends that are popular for different seasons. This spring especially, I’ve been reading about so many amazing trends that I want to add to my wardrobe. I thought I would share some fashion inspiration from some spring trends I’ve seen so far this year.

White Sneakers:

Personally, I love that this is a trend. And I hope it stays a trend for a long time. I hate that there’s pressure for bloggers to dress up everyday. When people see me on a day-to-day basis they tell me, “You blog about fashion?” Yes, just because I like to dress casually most of the time, doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy fashion. I don’t need to wear heels and a dress everyday to love the industry. White sneakers, feel free to stick around.

Statement Earrings:

Ladies, you know how much I love statement necklaces, but I love that we are taking a break from this to make room for more statement pieces! At first, I was skeptical about this trend because I thought: “Oh, that won’t catch on like statement necklaces.” Boy, was I wrong. For the last two months, I have been finding all gorgeous types of statement earrings in stores.

Strappy Bralettes:

If there is a trend I am most looking forward to, it’s the strappy bralette trend. Why? I love casual, relaxed looks for spring and summer. My go-to look consists of a pair of jeans or shorts with baggy, comfortable T-shirts. A strappy bralette would pair perfectly with this type of look. I can’t wait to add this trend into my everyday look for summer!

Lace-Up Flats:

Why haven’t I jumped on this bandwagon yet? I love the look of lace-up flats because they give me bohemian vibes without feeling out of place. Also, how adorable would these be with dresses? I think one of the problems I have with buying shoes is that I always want to invest in higher quality, so they won’t irritate my feet—(this is a sure sign of maturing!)

Leather Wrap Necklace:

I’m not sure if this is a trend I can personally pull off, but you better believe that I’m going to give it a try. I feel like I’m more confident about trying different styles in spring and summer. I don’t know why, but it’s an excuse to buy pieces outside of my comfort zone like this leather wrap necklace. This is a good replacement for anyone who is sick of wearing the same statement necklaces every day.

What trend is your favorite? What trends do you love for spring? Make sure to share in the comments!

5 Fashion Posts I Loved: March 2016

Posted in Fashion
on March 30, 2016

Each week throughout the month of February, I post five links from blog posts I loved to share love to other bloggers. Instead of making that a weekly post on my blog, I decided to incorporate it as a monthly roundup of five posts I loved throughout the month.

Leave a comment below telling me what posts you loved throughout the month whether they are from other bloggers, or from your own blog. Make sure to leave the links to posts as well!

“Red And Striped” from Northwest Blonde

It’s no secret that I love black outfits. I feel like wearing a pop of red is and underrated accent color nowadays because people think it’s overdone. I couldn’t disagree more. Ana’s look is sleek, sophisticated and makes me want to stay in the office for eight hour a day. I also love how equally bright the red accessories are—it’s definitely an eye-catching outfit altogether.

“If I Could Only Wear 10 Pieces of Clothing” from It’s Autumn

Did you know we only wear 20 percent of our closet? Me either until I read Autumn’s post! This definitely made me think about what I wear, what I don’t wear, etc. It’s challenging to pick and choose from everything in your closet, but we all tend to stick to the same pieces. Autumn goes through her wardrobe and chooses 10 pieces of clothing she would wear. I love how unique this post was, and it made me consider what I would wear in my own wardrobe if I could only choose 10 pieces.

“16 Fashion Photography Tips For Non-Fashion Bloggers” from Coming Up Roses

I learned a lot about fashion photography, and I took a class on it in school. Not that one class makes me an expert, but there are some things I never considered with my own photography when I post pictures of outfits on my blog. Erica takes you through a list of amazing tips to help step up your fashion photography game. If you’re into photography, I would definitely recommend reading this before your next shoot.

“2016 Spring Fashion Colors” from Posh Mode Ave.

A few weeks back, I wrote about colors trends I’m excited to try for 2016. Manique goes through the trends listed in the spring round up from the Pantone Color Institute. You’ll get some color inspiration and motivation to step out of your comfort zone and try some of the trends for the season. I personally love serenity, lilac gray and rose quartz. What colors are you loving from the list this year?

“Hot Pink Dress And Lace-Up Sandals” from Haute & Humid

Once in awhile, I will stumbled across a fashion post that makes me want to by the entire outfit right then and there. That was Sara’s post for me this month. There wasn’t one thing I didn’t like about this outfit. Everything about it was effortless and elegant from the bright dress, to the fun colors in the bracelets and shoes. If you’re a person who typically wears black and gray, I feel like you’ll be inspired by her look to add some color to your life.
