7 Shoe Trends I’ve Never Tried [& Don’t Plan To Wear]

Posted in Fashion
on August 30, 2017

I’ve always been a pretty practical shopper. I was never the type of person who would buy something simply because other people had that item. In middle school, I wasn’t rushing to Hollister or Abercrombie & Fitch every single day for the newest arrival. (I did get several things from those stores over a few holidays, though.)

There are so many trends that I personally didn’t care for; and still don’t care for to this day. There are so many that I can separate them into different categories. Today, we’re talking about shoes. Make sure to leave a comment letting me know what shoe trends you’ve jumped on the bandwagon for and which ones you’ve never liked.

1| Ugg Boots

Ugh to Ugg boots. (See what I did there?) This one is pretty simple because I couldn’t understand how a pair of boots could cost $200. I felt like the majority of my friends who owned them were always afraid to wear them because they would get dirty and ruined way too easily. So you’re spending $200 on boots you don’t want to wear because you don’t want to ruin them. Yeah, no thanks.

2| Sperry’s

I never understood why these were so popular. But like Uggs, Sperry’s blew up in popularity when I was in high school; and every single person owned at least one pair. I remember girls in my classes would complain about the blisters they would get from first wearing them for awhile. So, again with buying something that you don’t even want to wear, but now you’re not wearing them because they’re not comfortable. It never made sense to me.

3| Adidas Sneakers

Would I wear them, maybe. But I’m probably not going to buy them regardless. I remember these were huge back in middle school. Then they were shoved in the back of everyone’s closets through high school, donated to charity by college. Now, post college, we are all buying our second pair. Funny how that works, am I right? I don’t even hate the brand or style of them, but I don’t see myself buying them because I’ve always been a Nike girl.

4| Birkenstocks

I’m sure they’re so comfortable because that is what their claim to fame is. In college, I felt like the hipsters were the first people to jump on this because that’s the actual definition of being a hipster. But, I never really saw the reason for the hype. $100 sandals that will definitely be too gross to wear after one summer of sweat and dirt. Yes, you’re right, that sounds so appealing. I’m more than fine with my inexpensive sandals to wear to the beach and during summer.

5| Converse Sneakers

Yes, really. Another pair of shoes that I know every single human being owns except for me. To be real, they make my feet look huge. I don’t know if that’s me feeling self conscious about wearing them, but they aren’t flattering on me at all. I want to like them because I feel like they’re everyone’s default choice when they need something comfortable, but I don’t see myself ever jumping on the converse kick.

6| Combat Boots

This simply comes down to style. Combat boots were never really my style. I never had an edgy look or edgy sense of style. I have always been a person who prefers to wear more classic pieces that will last for years to come rather than wearing things that are more trendy and don’t necessarily fit my style. So, they weren’t something I was interested in buying.

7| Crocs

No explanation needed.

5 Looks I’m Lusting For: May

Posted in Fashion
on May 15, 2017

For awhile, I have been lacking some inspiration with my style over the last month. With the weather being in limbo from spring to an awkward fall season all in one month. Finally, that lack of inspiration has been fading and slowly, but surely, I have feeling my inspiration for fashion come back. As we move into warmer months and the end of spring, I’m falling in love with simple staple pieces like denim jeans, sandals, and fun tops!

Today, I’m sharing some looks I’m lusting for this month. A common theme I’ve noticed for the looks I’ve been inspired by are more casual and versatile. My style has evolved so much over the course of a year, and as I get older, I realize that comfortable is far more important to me than anything else! But let’s be real, who doesn’t want a stylish outfit that’s also comfortable enough to wear from 7 a.m. to 10 at night? Make sure to leave a comment below on what fashion looks you have been inspired by recently.

Wedges + Off-the-Shoulder Top + Denim = a perfect combination for a late spring/early summer outfit! Although I don’t any gingham-patterned clothing, there’s something I love about this look. It reminds me of a New England staple pattern everyone would have if I went to Rhode Island. Maybe that’s why I find it so inspiring—it’s out of my comfort zone in terms of what I would wear on a regular basis.

Dark denim has always been my favorite. I feel like it’s the closest item you can consider professional because they’re sleek and can easily be dressed up with the right pair of shoes and top. Speaking of tops, can we talk about the trends going on in this one? These bell sleeves, high collar and cut-out shoulders are everything I want and need in my closet. Paired with trendy, neutral shoes, and you’re ready for a date night or a night with friends!

Last summer, the pom pom detailing exploded in the fashion world. However, I wasn’t fully on board with this trend because it was EVERYWHERE: bags, dresses, shoes, earrings, scarves. If you would wear it in some form, they could put some pom poms on it. Needless to say, I didn’t think I was going to love this trend, but when it’s put together with the right items like simple shoes and limited accessories, they can make an outfit pop!

Remember what I said about being able to put poms poms on anything and everything? Well, they’re on a pair of shoes; and I think I’m in love with them! I also LOVE that low-heel, chunky sandals are popular for spring and summer this year. I’m all about comfortable shoes I can wear all day long. No one has time for shoes that make their feet hurt. I also love the detail in the sleeves on this smock dress. It is something you can easily wear as early as April and wear until late October because of its versatility (weather permitting, of course).

Another trend that I’ve been seeing so much of recently (and loving) is the ruffles trend. Now, don’t get me wrong, this isn’t necessarily my style anymore, however I’m still inspired by feminine, soft looks like the one above. The ruffles paired with the off-the-shoulder trend makes this top “America’s Most Wanted” for spring and summer. I also have been loving all the different looks I’ve been seeing with white denim, it motivates me and inspires me to take out my own pair and actually wear them!

5 Looks I’m Lusting For: December

Posted in Lifestyle
on December 12, 2016

Another month means that I can share what looks I’m lusting for this month. December fashion is a lot like late-fall fashion: tons of layers and a lot of different accessories. I love being able to share what has been inspiring my style, so grab a cup of coffee (or wine) and feel little bliss as we talk about these lovely outfits.

Things I’m currently loving, nude details like this blanket scarf and over-the-knee boots; and finding simple ways to elevate your comfortable outfit! Who says that leggings and a flowy top can’t look fashionable and stylish? What’s not to love about this look?

Layers are everything in December. In Pennsylvania, I live off of cold-weather necessities like big sweaters. But, I love how this outfit takes a bulky sweater, and adds a more feminine vibe with the long-sleeved, white blouse. It adds a unique, unexpected element to the look.img_7653

I’m absolutely L U S T I N G  for this long, grey cardigan. I can imagine that it feels like wearing a blanket outside, but it’s adorable and perfectly acceptable to wear in public, especially for winter. Layering this with a bulky, turtleneck sweater dress only makes this look more complete.

I don’t know why but I’ve been so interested in leopard-printed shoes recently, but I’ve been on the hunt of pair of them for awhile now. This outfit only motivates my drive to find a pair for myself I also love how they look with a bold, red sweater. I’m a big believer that leopard and red look stunning together. Personally, I think this outfit would be perfect for a holiday party.

winter-fashion-camel-coat-scarfPom-pom hats are totally in style, and I’m loving it. Whether you’re on the hunt for a perfect Christmas tree, or you’re out and about shopping for everyone on your list; this outfit is perfect for all your holiday errands. I love the pops of blue and green against the neutrals in this look. It’s a simple outfit that is versatile for December.

I cannot believe it’s that last month of 2015. Thanksgiving has come and gone, and now it’s time to focus on my favorite time of year. I truly love Christmas. I’m excited that it’s acceptable to play Michael Bublé’s Christmas album, drink all the Starbucks Holiday drinks, and partake in every Christmas- and winter-related activity.

I’m celebrating December by wrapping gifts, finishing my Christmas shopping, decorating the house, and making plans to spend as much time with my loved ones as possible. It’s the time of year where we should spend with the people we care about most.

I decided to create an outfit that looks put-together, but that’s cozy for the busy days of the season. Sometimes, you need to have an easy, go-to outfit that you can put together in five minutes before running errands. For me, that means leggings, plaid shirts and layers are a must.

With the holiday season upon us, I decided to bring out my inner Christmas geek by wearing red and green without overdoing it. You don’t need to wear ugly Christmas sweaters everyday from December 1st to December 25th to enjoy *sings* the most wonderful time of the year.

Whether you’re Christmas shopping or running errands on the weekends, you’ll feel cozy wearing a festive outfit to show off your Christmas pride!
