Fall Skin Essentials

Posted in Beauty
on September 16, 2016

I try to update my skincare routine based on the seasons because the essentials I use in Spring and Summer are completely different from Fall and Winter. Make sure to leave a comment below telling me what your fall skincare essentials are! I want to thank Götz for sponsoring this post and sharing their product with me. Without it, I would have never known a difference one treatment could make to my skin.

1| Makeup Remover

I changed up my makeup remover for fall to an oil-based makeup remover that’s not so harsh on my skin, which is why I’ve been loving the boscia makeup-breakup cleansing oil. I would definitely recommend this if you want a remover that won’t irritate your skin and that will remove all your makeup easily.

2| Cleansers and Scrubs

Cetaphil’s face cleanser has been in my routine for five years and I’ve used Lush’s Cup o’ Coffee for over two years. I can say that both products are wonderful for fall. I treat my skin to a scrub because of the change in weather, but I don’t need to change my skin cleanser because it works well anytime of year. Both are great for normal to oily skin types.

3| Moisturizer

Another set of products I’ve used for more than five years is the DayWear collection from Estēe Lauder. I’ve tried other moisturizers and serums over the years, but I’ve found that this collection works best for fall. Both products are incredibly hydrating but they don’t leave my skin oily or feel weighed down.

4| Treatments

Another newer product I’ve been loving this oxygen facial tonic from Götz. This product balances excessive oils in your skin, without drying out my skin for fall. It also helps soothe redness from blemishes. Let’s be honest, we all have pimples from time to time, so it’s nice to have a product in stock that helps treat any blemishes fast.

After using the facial tonic for a month, I’ve noticed my pores are smaller, and I have less redness in the problem areas of my skin when I have breakouts. I love that it removes all impurities and leaves my skin feeling refreshed. If you’re interested in trying the product yourself, be sure to shop the facial tonic here!

5 Easy Beauty DIYs Using Honey

Posted in Beauty
on September 7, 2016

BB91416_5 Beauty DIYs Using Honey

It’s been quite some time since I’ve talked about some beauty DIYs. Once in awhile, I notice my skin, hair, etc. need a little extra TLC from the change in weather, and I know I have better results when I use all natural products like honey, coconut oil, and other natural ingredients.

The best part about these beauty DIYs is that you can easily make them at home with very little time and effort. I don’t know about you, but I love DIYs are that effective and simple.

Honey has so many wonderful properties for your skin and hair. It replenishes hydration and helps to heal any acne, scarring, etc. on your skin. If you want to treat your skin weekly, you can simply rub raw honey into your skin instead of washing your face in the morning or evening. It gives your skin a break from chemicals in face wash, and it helps soothe, clean, and treat your skin.

1| Hair Mask

Ingredients: Honey and Coconut Oil.

This treatment will hydrate your hair, repair some damage from hot tools, and it will give your hair extra shine! If your hair has been looking dull and lifeless like mine (tbh it’s not pretty) I would definitely recommend it.

2| Brightening Face Scrub

Ingredients: Honey, One Lemon, and Sugar.

I have been using lemon so much from drinking hot water with lemon in the morning, to making this DIY for a skin-brightening, face scrub. You only need three ingredients to create a scrub that will brighten your skin after a few treatments.

3| Cuticle Treatment

Ingredients: Honey, Apple Cider Vinegar, and Coconut Oil.

I don’t know about you guys, but I need to take better care of my nails! My nails and cuticles have been horrible recently because I don’t have time to keep up with them weekly. So, I treat myself to a little treatment every other week to keep them moisturized and maintained.

4| Sunburn Treatment

Ingredients: Honey and Aloe Vera.

Awhile back, I fell asleep outside for almost an hour without any sun protection. When I woke up—I had two lines of sunburn. I knew aloe vera and ice were essentials, but combining honey and aloe vera is helpful for relieving your skin. I would definitely recommend this if you experience sunburn.

5| Coffee Body Scrub

Ingredients: Honey, Coffee Grounds, Olive Oil, and Brown Sugar.

You all know how much I love to use body scrubs on a weekly basis. Recently, I’ve been taking a break from Lush’s Cup O’ Coffee to create a simple, DIY version myself. You only need a few ingredients to give your skin the treatment it deserves. This will remove dead skin cells and soften your skin.

I hope this gave you a little inspiration to try a new DIY treatment for your hair, skin, etc. Make sure to leave a comment if you try any of these DIYs, or if you have a different DIY you want to share.

Refresh Your Beauty & Makeup Routine For Spring

Posted in Beauty
on April 13, 2016

I don’t know about you guys, but I love that spring is here. Although, last week was very disappointing with unplanned rain and snow, the weather is finally in spring mode. In honor of the lovely weather, I decided to revamp my beauty and makeup routine for spring with newer products for my hair, skin and makeup! Be sure to keep reading if you’re looking to refresh your beauty and makeup for spring, too!

Hair:

Moisturize Your Hair: After using the same shampoo and conditioner for five months, I thought it would be time to change things up for the season. I’m not going to lie, I find hair products to be unnecessarily expensive. I would rather invest in products for my skin rather than my hair. However, I have found that this shampoo and conditioner combination from Pantene has helped to restore my hair from its dry and damaged state from the long winter. It has been replenished with moisture, and I’ve been using these product regularly for a few weeks now. I’m hoping to add a hair oil and more hair treatments in my routine, so if you have recommendations, leave a comment!

Skin:

Find A Quality Moisturizer: I’ve honestly used this skincare routine from Estée Lauder since high school, and I swear by it to this day. The products are extremely hydrating and refreshing on your skin, which is exactly what my skin needs after winter. This serum and moisturizer combo treats my skin each day with vitamins C and E, which keep skin looking young and healthy. Also, make sure your moisturizer has SPF! It’s a necessity for protecting your skin.

Remove Your Makeup—Always: I cringe whenever my friends tell me they sleep with their makeup on each night, but they complain about their skin. You need to remove your makeup, and cleanse your skin at night! Sleeping with makeup is such a horrible habit you need to break this spring. I’ve been obsessed with the cleansing water from Simple because it’s hydrating and refreshing on my skin when I remove makeup. I definitely recommend investing in this product. Leave it next to your bed with some cotton rounds for when you’re too lazy to get out of bed.

Scrub Your Skin: After winter, my dull, damaged skin is in desperate need of some TLC. I always purchase a body and face scrub each spring to exfoliate my skin twice a week. That way, I can remove any dead skin cells, and make up my skin is prepped for all the lovely dresses and skirts I’ll be wearing now that the weather is beautiful and warm! I love Ocean Salt from Lush because it not too intense on my skin. It’s soft and moisturizing because it contains sea salt and coconut cream.

Oil Up: As much as I love my Bath & Body Works products, sometimes I need to kick it old school with skin therapy oil from Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula. What I love most about this is that it smells like summer, and it helps to if you have scars in addition to dry, damaged skin. I’ve also read that many people use this if they have Keratosis Pilaris, which I have, so I’m hoping this helps treat that as well. It’s also a great formula if you’re looking to reduce the signs of stretch marks. For $10, this product will last you a very long time, and can replace a body lotion in your beauty routine.

Makeup:

Refresh Your Foundation: I like to lighten up my makeup routine for spring. I pack away any makeup made for winter. Typically, I don’t wear heavy foundation because it never sits well on my face. BB creams and CC creams have been my life saver. I love CC creams for spring especially because they don’t weight my skin down and they’re hydrating. This one from Stila has been my go-to for a few years now. It’s lightweight, but still covers any redness and evens out my complexion.

Lighten Up Your Lips: Don’t get me wrong, I love dark, matte lips as much as the next girl. But for spring, I love to bring out light pinks to incorporate into my routine. I’ve also been loving the combination of pairing liquid lipsticks with glosses. I’ve been reaching for my YSL glosses a ton to mix with the melted liquid lipsticks from Too Faced. My favorite combination is Metallic Bubblegum from Too Faced and Rose Orfèvre from YSL. It’s perfect for spring.

Highlight Your High Points: This past fall and winter, I rarely wore blush or highlighter. Maybe I was a little lazy with my makeup, but it never felt right to use these products on my skin in winter. Now that spring is here, I’ve refreshed my makeup with light pink blush, highlighter and a neutral bronzing powder. I focus the highlighter on areas to like my cheek bones and then with bronzer in the hollows of my cheeks. The Bronze Goddess from Estée Lauder is the best product I’ve ever used. It’s natural looking on my skin, and it lasts for a long time.

I’m curious to know how you refresh your beauty and makeup routine for spring. Make sure to leave a comment below with your favorite products for the season!

Holiday Beauty Wish List | 2015

Posted in Beauty
on November 9, 2015

BB11915

It’s the second week of November, which means the holiday season is upon us. I would be lying if I said I didn’t begin my Christmas shopping, and that I didn’t watch any Hallmark Christmas movies. I truly love this time of year, and I love Christmas shopping, holiday movies and everything else associated with winter.

Aside from all things Christmas, I’ve been looking into new beauty products at Sephora. I’ve compiled a small list of the gift sets they have for the holidays, and what I’m most interested in trying out. Hopefully, I’ll see some of these as we move closer to the holidays.

Boscia Deep-Pore Cleansing Pair, $15

Korean beauty has become so popular in 2015, so I want to try some products from Boscia to see if it helps my skin. You use the cleansing cloth with the cleanser on your face to help remove all impurities from your skin. This is a must-have on my beauty wish list.

Too Faced Melted French Kisses, $25

I’ve been wanting to try these for months now. But, I always rather wait until the gift sets come out because they’re a better value, and you receive multiple options. It’s a rare occasion when I truly love all the colors in a gift set, but that seems to be the case for the Melted Lipsticks.

Jimmy Choo Blossom, $80

This smells incredible. There are notes of Italian Citrus, Red Berries, Bulgarian Roses and Sandalwood. I love anything that has a muted, sweet scent to it, which is why I’m in love with this fragrance. It will definitely become my signature scent for winter.

First Aid Beauty FAB Cleanse & Exfoliate Kit, $10

I’ve never tried First Aid Beauty, but I always hear many positive reviews from their skin products. I decided to put this kit on my wish list to switch out with my daily cleanser when my skin needs a little extra TLC. I can’t wait to see the results.

Too Faced Beautifully Blushed & Bronzed Set, $25

I’m looking to try new blushes and bronzers, so I thought purchasing a gift set was the best way to try and see the ones I love. I see tons of bloggers rave about Too Faced blushes and bronzers, so I hope I will have the same luck!

What beauty products are on your wish list for the holidays? Make sure to leave a comment below!

Review: Sephora Rose Mask

Posted in Beauty
on October 19, 2015

BB101915

I love stocking up on face masks for fall and winter. My skin needs a little extra TLC because the weather dries it out. I’ve been on the hunt for new face masks that will leave my skin hydrated, clear and refreshed.

I recently purchased the Sephora Rose mask from their collection. Their bold display in the shop definitely catches your eye. Each color mask serves its own purpose. The rose fiber mask is used for ultra moisturizing and brightening.

Now that it’s fall, I’ve noticed my skin has been dry and dull. I picked up three masks to try over the course of three weeks in order to treat my skin. It’s currently my third week using this mask, and I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my skin.

I almost wish I took before and after pictures throughout the three weeks because there is a visible difference in my skin. Although the mask is $6 (I usually don’t spend that much on face masks) it is well worth the price!

I would recommend talking to an employee and allow them to help you determine what your skin needs most. This way, you’ll find the mask that will benefit your skin the most. At first, I didn’t think there would be a huge difference if I chose any mask, but your skin type and skin problems can affect the results of your mask. They have eight different masks that can be used to treat skin differently, so depending on your skin type and what your skin needs will determine the mask you’ll buy.

The two ingredients that really target your skin are the rose and rice extracts, which help with  moisturizing your skin and the broccoli extract, which gives a radiant appearance to skin.  Throughout the three week period, I noticed that my skin felt more bright and hydrated. So, if you’re suffering from dull, dry skin, I would pick this up on your next shopping trip.

Have you tried face masks from Sephora? Make sure to leave a comment below telling me your favorite mask to use for fall!
