5 Looks I’m Lusting For: September

Posted in Fashion
on September 13, 2017

Is sweater weather really the best kind of weather? The answer is yes. Always yes to sweater weather.

I don’t know about you, but I am pumped for fall and all the cozy things in life. I’m ready for Bath and Body Works candles, the change in weather, sweaters, fall bucket lists (even though I don’t always get to do everything I want to on those lists). And, above all else, I’m ready for fall fashion, which is why I’m sharing five looks that are getting me so excited for the new season.

This sweater is what Autumn dreams are made of. I am on the hunt and I’m determined to find a long, open-front cardigan and I plan to wear every single day throughout the season. If you have any links from similar sweaters you own and love, PLEASE leave them in the comments below. My favorite thing about this type of cardigan is that it looks like a blanket, but you also look so dressed up!

Okay, I know we just got done talking about adorable, perfect sweaters, but hear me out on this one. I’m also loving how this looks so darn cute but she’s wearing a sweater, leggings and cute shoes. To be honest, I think it’s all about the neutrals. Nude is a color I’m lusting to own more of in my closet because I think it’s chic, classic and extremely versatile. If you have seen any nude sweaters, tops, etc., please share those with me as well!

I promise I’m not going to talk about the sweater because it’s evident that I’m in love with long, open-front cardigans and that isn’t going to end any time soon. So let’s move on to those adorable shoes. I’ve been loving loafers and masculine-style flats for fall. I’m sick of buying flats that are destroyed after a year because I wear them too much. I need shoes with a thick, durable sole and that will last with miles of walking. Make sure to send your recommendations my way!

You know those sweaters that you can wear with anything and everything? I feel like this sweater has tons of potential for versatility. I would love it casually with leggings or jeans, but I also feel like you can tuck it in to a skirt since it’s a thinner material. P.S. This is one of my favorite colors to wear during fall and winter. I never been an orange or red type of girl, so this is the perfect warm-tone color to get a small mix of both colors in there.

I always told myself that when I was older, I would wear cute heels all the time. Now, I’m more practical and I want shoes that are comfortable. But, I LOVE these shoes and how this entire look is pulled together with different shades of nude. I also love the sweater draped over the blouse. I’ve been only trying to achieve this exact look for years now, so if anyone has any tips on how to look cute and pull off this layered look, please let me know! P.S. that clutch is adorable and inspires me to carry less things so I can carry cute clutches, #amiright?

5 Looks I’m Lusting For: March

Posted in Fashion
on March 8, 2017

It’s March & I’m so excited about it mostly because I’m ready for sunny days, bright colors and all the spring things. Today I’m sharing a little fashion inspiration to get you thinking about spring, too! Add a little bliss to your closet and check out these stunning looks I’ve been lusting over this month.

Pink Top

I’m loving everything about this look from the pastel pink top, to the high-waisted denim to this oversized bag perfect for any weekend getaway. If you’ve been around the blog for awhile, you’ll know I’m all about neutrals, but there’s something about this light pink color that makes me want to reinvent my closet and style altogether. And TBH, I need to find an off-the-shoulder top! Leave links to your favorite picks in the comments!

One of my favorite pieces from high school was a denim skirt. I honestly wore it to where it was falling apart after several good years of wearing it. Since then, I haven’t owned one, but it has been on my list since the button-up, denim skirts became popular over the last few years. My favorite part of this look is that you can throw any comfy, T-Shirt with it and you’re set for the day. I love how versatile a denim skirt is, and it’s on my wish list.

Moto Jacket

Is Brighton not the example of #OutfitGoals?! The moto jacket she’s wearing is  e v e r y t h i n g  I want and need in my life right now. The soft, blush blouse paired with the edgy jacket is the perfect balance of two contrasting styles. Needless to say, she is slaying in this outfit that is perfect for spring. Her look would be perfect as a transitional look as we move into warmer weather for the next few months.

Stripped Top

Slip-on shoes are everywhere and I don’t know why I don’t own a pair for myself yet. What is better than having a comfortable, trendy pair of shoes that can go with everything? Also, I am loving the stripped, button-down, off-the-shoulder top paired with this white denim. I’ve truly been loving this clean and simple look. I can’t wait to be able to wear tops without layering tons of sweaters and jackets to cover it up.

White Denim

White denim + ivory sweater + sandals + nude hate = perfect outfit situation. I love seeing the contact of the different hues of nude and brown paired with white and off-white colors. Honestly, playing with different shades of color like this is WAY out of my comfort zone. But you all know I love to throw in a look that is something I wouldn’t normally wear so that I can inspire myself to try different things!

OOTD For When You’re Running Late + Tips!

Posted in Fashion
on January 13, 2016

BB11316-3

We’ve all been there. You press snooze one too many times in the morning, and now you’re running late. You’ll probably default to wearing workout clothes, or throwing on a comfy, but acceptable, sweater. Then you realize that you need to interact with people, run errands, work; so panic builds. You’ve set yourself up for a stressed day, and you haven’t left your room yet.

But it doesn’t have to be this way! I’m sharing my go-to outfit and tips for when you’re running late. You’ll add some bliss back to your morning knowing you can still look put together and catch a few extra ZZZs when you need to sleep.

BB11316-2.1

The Outfit:

A Basic T-shirt: (similar from Skreened)

Whether you have a plain, white T-shirt, or a gray graphic T-shirt, these picks are essential on the days when you’re running late. You can easily dress up your shirt with some jewelry or other accessories if you’re feeling under dressed.

Blazer: Macy’s

Want to look adult-like in under five seconds? Throw on a blazer. Stick with black because if you have a last-minute meeting, you’ll look professional. No one will even know you woke up late this morning. Fake it till you make it!

Comfortable Denim: Old Navy

Instead of opting for leggings or dress pants, go for dark denim. The darker the denim, the more polished your look will be. However, make sure you pick a pair of jeans you’ll be comfortable in all day. The last thing you want to feel is uncomfortable when you’re already in a rush.

Cute Booties: Old Navy

I think booties are the perfect addition to any outfit if you want to look dressed up without even trying. These booties from Old Navy complete every look, and they’re comfortable. You’ll look chic and you won’t feel stressed about wearing heels all day.

Tips for when you’re running late!

Go neutral and simple:

Stick to whites, blacks and grays when you’re running late. Stray away from patterns and bold colors. You don’t want to mix together the wrong colors and prints together. The point is to make sure you look polished and put together. Not like a Vera Bradley-inspired hot mess.

Think casual, but put-together:

You don’t need to overdo it with skirts, tops and all the accessories. Remember to stock up on your basics in your closet: dark denim, plain T-shirts, and blazers, and you’re good to go. Don’t overthink it when you’re getting ready.

Have a plan:

I always carry a clutch or a small makeup bag to keep some running late essentials. Bobby pins, a perfume roller, lipstick and a granola bar are some must-have you’ll want to remember in your kit. Then, all you’ll have to focus on is getting to your destination on time.

Next time you’re running late, you’ll feel prepared to take on the day despite waking up late.

OOTD & Update on Stepping Out of Your [Fashion] Comfort Zone

About a month ago, I talked about stepping out of your fashion comfort zone and why it’s important to try something new even with your wardrobe. You can read the post here. Since that post, I wanted to update you on how I’ve gained confidence from wearing different clothing than I am used to.

I mentioned that I normally wear loose-fitting clothing: baggy T-shirts, loose jeans, etc. I never show off my curves because I am curvy. I was self-conscious about my curves and showing them off in clothes. And, I don’t mean “showing off” like the hey-look-at-my-body type of showing off. However, I’ve learned to be more accepting of my body throughout this process; and I’ve learned that curves are beautiful and if I love a dress that’s fitted—I’m going to wear it.

At first, I thought I wasn’t going to change how I dress at all. I thought I would buy (maybe) one new dress and wear it for a special occasion only. To my surprise, I’ve been incorporating new clothing into my wardrobe for the end-of-summer to fall transition period. Here, I purchased the newest dress to my collection, which I dressed up professionally for a presentation and dressed down for work.

I’ve grown as a person from this experience because I learned that it’s okay to be comfortable with your daily routine, habits, etc. But it takes courage to feel comfortable with yourself enough to step out of your comfort zone at your job or in your wardrobe.

Now, I plan to step out of my comfort zone with a new challenge in my life: working out. I normally stick to the same workouts, but I want to branch out, get uncomfortable and learn from a new experience. Cheers to stepping out of your comfort zone and making progress toward acceptance.
