Monthly Favorites & Sharing Love: June

Posted in Lifestyle
on June 26, 2017

June was a whirlwind y’all,

I’m not going to lie when I say that I have been living and planning for the summer months throughout the month of June because the next two months are going to be insane. I’m working hard to share amazing content that I’m passionate about, and I’m in the middle of a busy season at work and in my person life.

I love summer, but I always find that it goes by WAY. TOO. QUICKLY. So I made it my mission to make as many plans as possible for the month of July and August despite potentially being overwhelmed. It’s going to be an interesting two months ahead, but I’m excited.

Let’s get on to the June favorites, shall we? Make sure to share your favorites from June in the comments below so I can see what you all have been loving, too.

1| Beautiful Weather

I was finally able to lay outside and work on my tan this month, which is exciting for someone who enjoys the sun. Despite having some rain throughout the month, we finally stepped into 70-80 degree weather. It feels so darn good to be able to wear dresses, skirts and wedges all the time. It makes getting ready so much more enjoyable every day. I’ve also been doing little things like reading on my porch or blogging on my patio. It’s amazing what good weather will do for you.

2| Taking Risks

Real talk: I stopped taking risks in life. And it wasn’t fun AT. ALL. I was bored with life and needed excitement and thrill back in my life, so I decided to start saying yes and take risks. Let me tell you, there are going to be some exciting things happening in 2017 because of that. Whatever risk you’ve been avoiding recently like applying for that promotion at work or starting your own business—let this be your reminder to GO FOR IT. You got this, girl.

3| Focusing on Self-Love

I finally decided to get serious about self love in June, and I can’t express how positive it has been for my overall health and well-being. Bottom line, you need to love yourself, and you need to focus on taking care of yourself in the process. You’ll see so many benefits from it, and you will feel nothing but bliss. I promise. Stop the comparison game and the negative self talk because you are amazing. Point. Blank. Period.

4| Making time for Friends

Sometimes, you simply need time for your friends. Although work is crazy, and it can be difficult to make your schedules work—you need to make time for your friends. Whether it’s for happy hour after work, or a sushi night at your house with a bottle of wine, surrounding yourself with good friends is so important for living your best, most blissful life. Even if your friends live hours away, make time for a FaceTime call to catch up. I talked with my best friend on the phone for two hours about everything in life, and how we were excited to see each other. It made my week because I was reminded that even though I can’t see her often, we will always be close.

5| Intentional Living

I’ve been focusing on minimalism like decluttering my home, and being ruthless on what I bring into my own home by stopping unnecessary shopping. I wanted to focus more on intentional living and slowly. Essentially, enjoying the little things in life and not sitting on my couch and aimlessly scrolling on social media every day. Instead, I want to focus on my goals and create a blissful life. I’ve been appreciating my morning coffee and eating my meals without having my phone nearby. Let me just say there WILL be a post coming your way soon on this topic.

Sharing Love

If you’re knew to these posts, I’m all about sharing the love in the blogging community because there are some amazing bloggers out there who deserve to have their content shared with the world.

12 Thing I Wish I Could Tell My Younger Self

“You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing.” This was  huge truth bomb for me. I’m happy that once I got to college I was comfortable with myself to do what I wanted to do and make my own path instead of doing what everyone else was doing. If you need a little encouragement or are looking a post that will help you reflect on your own experiences, make sure to read this post!

A Tiny Traveler: Apartment Tour

I LOVE watching/reading people’s home/apartment tours. This probably comes from my love of home renovations, interior decorating, etc. I’ve always watched HGTV even when I was in elementary school. I watched all the shows from a young age because renovations and contracting runs in the family. You can say I’m hooked. So whenever a blogger shares their home, I love to see how they decorate and what their personal style is. I love Natalie’s style, and how minimal and simple her apartment is. You’ll definitely want to pin some of these photos for your some apartment inspiration.

Why You Should Take More Risks

Summer is always dishing out some amazing, relatable content on her blog; and that’s why I love to read her posts. She shared some truths on why you should take risks in life, and that it’s always important if you want to learn and grow. I couldn’t agree more with some of the things she shares in her post. It reminds me that I want to take more risks, so if you’re looking for some encouragement to start your own business, make a career move or any other risk in life—you’ll want to read this ASAP!

How & Why to Set Goals As A Couple

This post was inspiring for me because I’m all about setting goals for myself every week, month, and year. If there’s something I want to accomplish, you can guarantee that I’m going to find a way to make it happen. #committed. But when I read about setting goals as a couple, I thought that this could open a door for even more goals to achieve. So I’m going to sit down with Josh and talk about goals we have for our relationship, life, etc. I’m excited to see what we can accomplish together as a couple.

12 Powerful Things to Remind Yourself Today

Erica is my girl. I feel like she’s one of those bloggers who is your virtual BFF. She shared some amazing and inspiring reminders that you’ll definitely want to read today like you’ll want to book that flight instead of buying a T-Shirt. And that you should live to work instead of work to live. And everyone knows all her advice and comments are true. So, if you need a simple, feel-good post that will bring you all the bliss in life, you’re going to love this post.

What posts have you been loving this month whether it’s from your blog or a blogger you love? What have you been loving this month as far as Netflix shows, recipes or your favorite trips?! Make sure to share all these wonderful things in the comments below!

Monthly Favorites & Sharing Love

Posted in Lifestyle
on June 5, 2017

Wasn’t May 1st like…yesterday?

Is it just me, or is 2017 flying by for everyone else, too? Because I truly feel like this year has been flying by every single month and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Now we’re heading into the summer months, and I’m hoping to kick my blog work and goals into high gear for the second half of the year. What are your goals for June or for summer altogether? Make sure to share your goals in the comments below because #accountability. Am I right?! Also make sure to share what you’ve been loving this month whether they are beauty products, podcasts or anything in between!

May Favorites:

My favorites all weren’t necessarily beauty or fashion favorites, but they were favorites that I know we can all relate to if you love podcasts, blogging courses, and everything in between. Make sure to leave comment below telling me what you’ve been loving this month whether it’s food, fashion or tech-related!

1| The Lavendaire Lifestyle

I have been loving podcasts this month and I’m not too sure how I didn’t get into them months ago. I have been watching Aileen from Lavendaire on YouTube for awhile now, but I just recently began listening to her podcasts. Her podcasts alone have inspired me so much that I’ve been catching up on several episodes a day. (Not every day, but quite often!) I love how she is able to discuss different topics and reach her audience by sharing inspiration for living your best life. If you’re into podcasts like the Lively Show and Big Magic, you’ll love Lavendaire Lifestyle.

2| Blogging Courses

Y’all, I’ve been all about the downloads, e-courses, webinars, and everything else you can imagine. Whether it’s about pitching to brands, to learning more about Instagram—blogging courses in general have been my jam this month. I wanted to take the month to really focus on learning. So I put away the books for a month, and focused on courses, classes and videos. Needless to say, I have some plans for the blog I hope to share with you soon. I recently reviewed my notes from Erica’s #BrandOut presentation, and I’ve been putting some of those tips into actions. What blogging courses, webinars, e-books, etc. have you been loving? Make sure to share your favorites!

3| Pedicures

And if we’re being honest, I’ve been loving manicures, too. I go through phases where I get my pedicures done religiously basically from May to September and then stop from October through April. Because why spend money when your feet won’t see the light of day for months on end? So, I have given permission to treat myself for a few months out of the year for a pedicure and color change for summer.

4| Pinterest Inspiration

For awhile, I was lacking inspiration in all areas of my life, but especially with blogging and my journey toward living minimally. I felt lost and needed to kickstart my inspiration ASAP. Pinterest has been incredible for me this month because of the way I’ve been using it. I haven’t been aimlessly scrolling on my feed. Instead, I treat it like “studying.” Ask yourself, what is your goal? Are you trying to get some motivation for decluttering your closet? Are you looking for clogging resources? Social media is an amazing tool to help achieve your goals when you use the platform wisely.

5| Self-Tanning Products

Back in high school and early college, I would tan for two months out of the year. You know the awkward period from April through May where you can wear spring/summer clothes, but you look horrible because you’re still so pale? But I know how horrible tanning is for you, which is why I decided to take an alternative route for getting a healthy, glowing look. My favorite product has been The Banana Boat Self-Tanning Lotion. It’s only $7 at Target (yes, really!) and I love everything about it. You don’t need to apply much to see results, and it doesn’t leave that sticky feeling on your skin. TBH it will be my go-to product from now on.

Sharing Love: May

1| “I was born to stand out” from Erica

I was yelling, “YASSS, PREACH” during this post because Erica was dropping some major true bombs left and right. Needless to say, I was ALL about it. Especially when she discussed how giving yourself permission to live your best life, you’re giving others permission to live their best lives as well! All of her insights on this topic hit home for me, so if you’re looking for a pick-me-up post, I’d give this a read as soon as possible. P.S. Who else joined in for Brand Out because I LOVED it. Let me know your thoughts on it in the comments on her tips!

2| How to Find Community in the Blogging World from Summer

Summer is one of those bloggers I can always trust for some amazing blogging advice, and this post was no different. I loved reading more about what specific things you should look for when looking for a blogging community that’s right for you and your blog. She also talks about the importance of community in the blogging world, which is something I needed to be reminded of. What are some of your favorite blogging communities and groups that you’re part of through social media? I’d love to check them out!

3| Summer Reading List from Neely

Guys, I needed a little reading motivation this month. The last two months have been slow in terms of books that I’ve read, so I’m hoping to change that for June and July. Neely has amazing taste in books, although I might be biased because I think her and I have similar taste in genres of books, which is why I trust her reviews and opening of books. Her post gave me a ton of new titles to add to my list for summer. I’m hoping to knock out three books or more for summer, so I want to get to it.

4| How to Stay Motivated from Rachel

Sometimes, it can be difficult to always stay motivated and stay on top of every to-do list, task and list of goals you have set for yourself. I love how she talks about the importance of finding your high energy times throughout the day so you can focus on your most important to-do list items for productivity. Organization and scheduling your day is so important to getting things done and staying motivated! If you’re trying to work on these things, check out her post!

5| Finding Work-Life Balance in a 24/7 World from Kristen

We simply live in a world where we are expected to work all the time and that’s not healthy whatsoever. It’s so important that we take time to set work aside, destress, unwind and recharge for the next day, so we can have another productive day at work! When I fist started my full-time job, I was all about working extra hours, checking emails at any hour of the day, etc. Now, when 5 p.m. rolls around, emails stop and I give myself the rest of the evening to relax and take the time to work out, read, spend time with Josh, etc. How do you unwind after a long day?

What have you been loving this month? What are some posts you have read this month that you have loved from your blog or from other bloggers? Make sure to share the links in the comments below!

Monthly Favorites & Sharing Love: February

Posted in Health, Lifestyle
on March 1, 2017

Goodbye February and Hello March.

TBH I’m in denial that it’s already the third month of the year. In some ways, I feel like so much has happened in 2017, but at the same time I feel like nothing has changed. Does that even make sense? I feel myself starting off this post way. too. deep. Before I get too philosophical over a cup of coffee, let’s get right into what I’ve been loving throughout the month. Make sure to leave a comment below telling what you have been loving this month whether it’s beauty, fashion, food, TV, books. If you’ve been loving it, I want to know about it.

1| The Flash

I already know people are going to judge me hardcore for this, but I have been binge-watching The Flash on Netflix and it is not okay. I went through almost three seasons in a month, which is pretty impressive (and embarrassing) if you ask me. But it’s a show Josh and I have picked up and we’ve been crazy about this past month.

2| Boscia Luminizing Black Mask

When I got my hands on the last black mask at my Sephora, I was SO happy. The store associate said they can not keep them on the shelves since beauty videos of the product have been going viral online. Needless to say, I’m used it A TON this month and my pores have been thanking me since. It’s perfect to clear your pores without irritating your skin.

3| Anastasia Brow Wiz

Why has it taken me this long to try this? I’m set in my ways when it comes to beauty products. If I love something, I will stay faithful to it until it fails me. I decided to give this a try once I found out I couldn’t order my other brow pencil. I’m happy that I couldn’t reorder it because this product has given me #eyebrowgoals and I’ve been loving it. I am a dedicated fan and have jumped on the bandwagon for this product.

4| Decluttering Videos

Want an easy way to get motivated to declutter? Watch other people declutter their homes, closets, etc. It will give you the motivation you need. I love watching people get rid of stuff, but it also inspired to go into into my own home and reevaluate what I need and don’t need. Trust me guys, you won’t regret it!

5| Self-Care

This past month, I teamed up with Erin from “A Welder’s Wife” to create a 30-Day Mental Cleanse Challenge that focused on self-care, and other mental-based challenges. The entire experience was eye-opening and helped me realized that self-care and challenging myself consistently is SO IMPORTANT for growth with minimalism, simple living and intentional living, too!

Sharing Love:

1| Mental-Cleanse Challenge Week One from Erin

I loved working with Erin on this project because she has always been a source of inspiration and motivation for me along my journey toward living a more minimalist, simple life. Seeing how she thrived in these challenges (not only in week one) motivated me to focus more on self care in my own life, and that minimalism is more than decluttering the items in your home. Catch up on all her posts from this past month on her blog!

2| 7 Investments Worth Making For Your Blog from Summer

Summer absolutely killed it with this post. Her talk about design, photography, and everything in between showed the main components of what you truly should focus on for your blog! She made me think about what I can invest in for my blog and how I can improve it in those specific areas she writes about.

3| Questions to Ask Yourself to Declutter Your Home from Erin

You all know I love reading motivational posts on minimalism, decluttering and everything related to simplifying your life altogether. Erin’s posts are always an awesome source of inspiration for me. She had me thinking: “I think I could get rid of X, Y and Z.” The one question that helped me get rid of more than 60 % of my closet is: “If I was out shopping today, would I buy this item?” Erin has a ton of amazing questions to help you declutter your home.

4| Life Happens—Why I’m Not Apologizing from Cara

ALL. THE. PREACH. HANDS. Cara absolutely slayed this post. I can’t tell you how much I needed to read this post because I’m sure many bloggers can relate to this. Life happens, and sometimes we can’t keep up with our content, social media, schedule, etc. But that’s okay! We are human and simply can’t do it all. We shouldn’t apologize for needing a break or to take a step back. Cara wrote a post that will truly resonate with you.

5| How to Streamline Your Schedule With Batching from Jenny

Jenny’s post helped me rethink how to schedule my time for blogging. Instead of thinking and working in a consecutive order: write post, take photos, edit photos, edit post, schedule social media; she taught me how batching can help me get more accomplished and feel less stressed. Since her post, I’ve incorporated this a lot more than just scheduling tweets and planning out Instagram content. It has changed how I schedule my time altogether.

Monthly Favorites & Sharing Love

Posted in Beauty, Fashion, Health, Lifestyle
on January 25, 2017

Hey January, Where’d You Go?

But really? How are we already at the end of the first month of 2017? It doesn’t help that it’s January, yet the weather has been acting like it’s March—so I’m all sorts of disoriented with the new year so far!

Today, I’m sharing some things that I have been loving this month and sharing some posts from bloggers I have loved throughout each month as well. Make sure to leave a comment below telling me what you have been loving this month. Also, leave your favorite post from January, so I have some reading to catch up on over the weekend.

What I’ve been loving this month:

1| New Girl

Why has it taken me this long to watch New Girl on Netflix?! I am in love with this show; and I’m not going to lie…it has been the reason for a lot of my lack of productivity some nights. Let’s be real, we all have lied and said we were going to do 10 things in an hour, but then we watch two episodes instead. It happens. Anyway, leave your Netflix recommendations below because we’re almost done catching up with the seasons.

2| Salads

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, “she can’t be normal if she likes salads.” Hear me out. I’ve been making my salads more fun, exciting and enjoyable to east. TBH, I’ve been looking forward to making unique mixes every week with different ingredients. Now, salads have been what I’ve eating a ton of in January.

3| Essie in Muchi Muchi (104)

There was a period of six months where I would never paint my nails because I’m far too lazy for the upkeep that follows. (Please tell me there are other people who pick off ALL their nail polish once they see one chip because girl, same!) Once I bought this shade, you can’t even notice if there’s a small chip, which means I’m not driving myself crazy after a few days of painting my nails.

4| 52 Lists Project

If you know me, you’ll know that lists are my everything. I feel joy as I cross of the items on that list. (P.S. I am that girl who has written down something I’ve already done JUST so I can cross it off. It’s fine.) This book is 52 different lists you do every week throughout the year, and I love that it is broken down by seasons. This is part of my Sunday morning routine with a fresh cup of coffee and I have been loving it!

5| Taylor Jenkins Reids

Guys, I read three books this month; and I don’t feel once ounce of shame! “Maybe in Another Life,” “After I do,” and “Forever, Interrupted” are all amazing! I read each book in one sitting, and I love when I’m able to pick up books that are page-turners, and you simply can’t put them down! Leave a comment below telling me what books you’ve been reading recently!

Sharing Love:

1| 28 Productive + Free Things You Can Do Instead of Watching Netflix

Because let’s be honest, I’m sure I’m not the only one out there who has been unproductive and has watched too much Netflix this month, right!? Carolyn has some awesome options if you’re looking to do something other than binge-watch Netflix and that won’t break the bank!

2| How to Use Boardbooster and Tailwind to Increase Your Traffic

Jenny is amazing when it comes to explaining the pros and cons of certain tools for your website, social media, etc. I love heading over to her blog to learn a little more about tools and resources that can help me with my blog! Good thing I did because I’m hoping to learn more about SEO, traffic increase, etc. If you’re interested in learning more, head over to her blog!

3| 5 Conversations to Have Before Getting Engaged

Rachel brought up some amazing conversations that you NEED to talk about with your SO before you consider getting engaged. (Before I get a flood of comments, no I am not engaged—but I thought this post was very important). I know many people think they’re on the same page with these topics, but you might be surprised. I’m happy to say that Josh and I are pretty open when discussing big things like this; and we’re on the same page with all of them.

4| Essential Tips for an Organized Mind

If you know me, you know that I love reading anything and everything that has to do with organization! I love Erin’s post because I know that I have found so much help with keeping a planner and keeping a clean, organized workspace. She also taught me about brain dumps, which I have been loving!

5| How to Gain Genuine Instagram Followers

I love Cara’s post on how to gain genuine Instagram followers! I found her tips very helpful and they definitely helped me understand how I can improve my Instagram altogether. Personally, I want to work on building my cohesive feed and making sure I comment/follow/like people in my niche!

5 Posts I Loved: October Edition

Posted in Lifestyle
on October 24, 2016

bb102416_5-posts-i-lovedoct
Another month has almost passed, which means it’s another opportunity to share some of the amazing blog posts I loved this month from fellow bloggers. If you’re new to Blissfully Brunette, you’ll see that I share links each month from blog posts I want to share with bloggers. I think it’s important to spread the love in the blogging community, so I try to do so any time I can. Make sure to leave a comment below sharing what YOUR favorite posts were from other bloggers from the month. Or, you can share your favorite post from your own blog!

Dear Brands, Bloggers Don’t Work For Free” from Summer

I’ll save the gushing and fangirling over Summer and quote my favorite piece from her post: “Bloggers are great at what they do. You, as a brand, clearly know that. If you didn’t, you wouldn’t keep reaching out and trying to get us to work with you. You know that we have influence. You also know deep down that our influence is huge for your brand. So, why don’t you start acknowledging our worth as bloggers (and people) and actually pay us the compensation we deserve.” If that didn’t make you want to check out her post, I don’t know what will. Summer has a way with words, and she did an amazing job of putting brands in their place. You go, girl!

How to Overcome Perfectionism and Accept Your Flaws” from Molly

stylemissmolly_9586_blog-1024x683Photo from StyleMissMolly.com

I have stumbled across Molly’s blog in the past, but her post earlier this month inspired me. Dealing with OCD and anxiety is something I work on every single day, but her post helped me realize that we all have flaws—and that’s perfectly okay. I read through her flaws and realized that her and I have almost ALL THE SAME FLAWS. She’s like my perfectionism soul sister. It’s amazing she was able to not only recognize her flaws, but post them online in a vulnerable space. Molly also provided some incredible tips on how to overcome perfectionism.

Organization Tips for Bloggers and Side Hustlers” from Erin

As someone who has a demanding, full-time job in addition to blogging—this post was so important for me to read this month. I’m sure there are many other people who are working full time and blogging can also to relate to this as well. If you’re someone who is working on a blog, a job, and balancing everything else in your life, I would definitely recommend reading this post from Erin! You won’t regret it!

Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe” from Becca

img_3004Photo from HappilyTheHicks.com

You all know that I’m all about pumpkin-flavored anything and everything during the fall season. I’ve been on the hunt for a PSL recipe to make at home, and I LOVED this recipe from Becca because it’s so simple and doesn’t take a lot of time or ingredients to create! If you’re looking for an inexpensive, easy recipe to have on hand when you’re craving a pumpkin spice latte, make sure to save this recipe for yourself.

Autumn Fashion Find: Fall Floral Dress” from Chelsie

Not only do I love Chelsie’s style and her fashion posts in general, but I love how she’s an honest and real fashion blogger. She’s not the type of person to have an outfit that’s over $300 because that’s simply not realistic for most people. But that’s what I love about Chelsie, she finds ways to make her fashion posts inspiring and unique without breaking the bank. I think that’s something we all can respect, especially if you’re someone who is trying to save money!

What posts have you been loving from your blog or from other bloggers? Make sure to leave a comment below sharing some links!
