Rejuvenating June: Series Post 4

In my previous Rejuvenating June post, I talked about juice and tea cleanses and the benefits of cleansing your body. Detoxing isn’t only about what you nourish your body with. It’s all about balance with your mind, body and soul. Here are 10 ways you can detox aside from cleanses.

Revamp your fitness routine:

You don’t need to jog for 30 minutes everyday. If you hate your fitness routine, try different options like kickboxing, Pilates, step class, weight-resistance training or cycling. The more variety, the better. This will help you lose weight quickly and keep your mind on top of its game.

Drink detox water:

Why have plain water when you can mix in up with different fruits and vegetables? Try adding lemons, berries and cucumbers to your water for a clarifying mix that will taste better than a sugary drink. This will help you reach the intake of water for the day without even thinking about it.

Meditate:

Are you always thinking about something? You have so many thoughts, ideas and can’t stop your mind? Meditation helps calm your mind and helps you to focus on breathing and being present in the moment. First meditate for 2 minutes, then 5, 10, etc. You’ll see how much you’ve progressed.

Get outside:

Did you know spending time in nature makes you more happy? Instead of walking on the treadmill or using the elliptical, take your workout outdoors. Hike in the woods, kayak with friends on the lake or bike on a trail. You’ll help your mind and body equally.

Keep a journal:

Detoxing the mind is also important. We have a lot of thoughts in one day, and sometimes we might have problems, stresses and other challenges we are battling. Keep a journal and record down the good, bad, ugly—basically whatever you want. It’ll help clear your mind frequently.

Write five things you’re thankful for everyday:

Expressing gratitude is something we all need to work on. Regardless of out life situations, we all have something to be thankful for. Every morning, write down five different things you’re thankful for, repeat everyday, and watch your happiness grow with ease.

Stretch when you wake up and before bed:

If you haven’t picked up yoga, try some simple poses for 15 minutes every morning and evening. This will get your body ready to take on the day, or prepare you for a night of rest. Either way, you’ll stretch you body and release toxins.

Practice breathing:

This isn’t something we do often. We need to appreciate breathing by taking full, deep breaths. You can practice this at night before bed (it will help you fall asleep faster) and during the day. With proper oxygen, you’ll body can release the bad from your system.

Create a vision board:

What inspires you to be healthy? Find your favorite fitness quotes, photos of healthy recipes and workout ideas and make a collage on a cork board. Keep it in a place where you’ll see it every day like your office space. You’ll be reminded why detoxing is necessary for healthy living.

Surround yourself with positive people:

You’re a product of your environment. When you surround yourself with positive people, you will naturally become more positive. If you have negative people, they will bring you down. You need to actively seek happiness through positive energy and optimism.

June Favorites

Good Morning! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and that you’re all rested up for another Monday. I have to admit that I was very excited to post my monthly favorites for the month of June, which is why I decided to post it today instead of next week when June was over. So, hopefully you are all okay with this post for today!

Let’s get started.

Revlon PhotoReady bronze powder: So, I purchased this bronze powder in the beginning of May, and I have been loving it to contour my face for the summertime. The palette isn’t too overwhelming, but it applies great coverage for a sun-kissed effect to your skin. For the summer months, I don’t use foundation of any kind because I like to give my skin a break with the heat, so I just apply the powder to the hallows of my cheeks to give my skin an extra burst of glow.

Maybelline Color Whisper: I mentioned this lip product in my last monthly favorites post, but I am still in love with it for the month of June. The color is number 50 in the shade, “Cherry on Top.” The sheer color that the Color Whispers have is great if you don’t want a drastic lip color, but you can still build the color up to create a bold lip. Also, I love how moisturizing this is on my lips, it keeps them hydrated all throughout the day and the color lasts relatively well, too.

Maybelline Rocket mascara: Another duplicate from my last monthly favorites post…I’m sorry everyone, but this mascara is by far the BEST product I have used on my eyes EVER! And that’s still an understatement for how awesome this mascara is. You’ve heard my rants about this product, so I won’t repeat myself, but if you haven’t tried this mascara yet…please go to your local drugstore and purchase one. Pretty please with sugar on top, I promise you won’t regret it.

Victoria’s Secret, “Incredibly Daring” perfume: I’m not going to lie, I originally purchased this perfume because of the price and packaging of the product. Last year, during the semi-annual sale, I saw this perfume in one of the bins for 60% off…like, how do you say no to that? And, it has the classic pump spray, which is unique and gorgeous. The smell of this perfume is very sweet and fruity for summertime: definitely a plus, and the fragrance isn’t too overwhelming to wear throughout the year. It’s the perfect perfume!

Herbal Essences, Set Me Up mousse: I am extremely lazy in the summertime when it comes to my hair.  I applaud those who are capable of waking up and taking the time to straighten or curl their hair on a daily basis. Most days, I personally don’t like to apply heat because I don’t want to damage my hair too often. So, after washing my hair, I will add mousse the ends of the hair and massage it in. This works well for me because my hair is naturally wavy, so it adds to my natural curl that I have in my hair.

Rose Gold Fossil Watch: I’m surprised that I didn’t add this in my last monthly favorites post, but at least I remembered for the month of June. This watch was s gift for my nineteenth birthday in April from my parents. I am OBSESSED with the colored-diamond detailing around the edges of the watch, it is gorgeous with the rose gold color. I have been wearing this watch everyday since I received it two months prior, and I am in love with how great it looks against my tan skin in the summer.

American Eagle belt: During my winter recital, I lost my favorite belt from American Eagle during one of the shows, and I felt devastated. I wore that belt almost everyday for a year, and it was the perfect shade of brown. Rest in Peace to that belt, wherever it may be. But, after the loss of an amazing accessory, I purchased this belt on sale at American Eagle for twelve dollars, and I think I have fallen in love with this belt. The rose gold studded detailing is great with my watch for the summer, and I am happy that I found a belt that looks great and could replace my lost belt.

DSW cross-body bag: I purchased this cross-body bag two summers ago from DSW on sale for twenty dollars. I remember wearing it a lot when I first purchased it, then I rediscovered it while cleaning out my closet when I came home from college, and I have been wearing it all summer. I love the pink and orange tribal-print pattern on the bag, it’s bold, bright and lovely for the summer.
