Monthly Favorites & Sharing Love

Posted in Lifestyle
on June 5, 2017

Wasn’t May 1st like…yesterday?

Is it just me, or is 2017 flying by for everyone else, too? Because I truly feel like this year has been flying by every single month and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Now we’re heading into the summer months, and I’m hoping to kick my blog work and goals into high gear for the second half of the year. What are your goals for June or for summer altogether? Make sure to share your goals in the comments below because #accountability. Am I right?! Also make sure to share what you’ve been loving this month whether they are beauty products, podcasts or anything in between!

May Favorites:

My favorites all weren’t necessarily beauty or fashion favorites, but they were favorites that I know we can all relate to if you love podcasts, blogging courses, and everything in between. Make sure to leave comment below telling me what you’ve been loving this month whether it’s food, fashion or tech-related!

1| The Lavendaire Lifestyle

I have been loving podcasts this month and I’m not too sure how I didn’t get into them months ago. I have been watching Aileen from Lavendaire on YouTube for awhile now, but I just recently began listening to her podcasts. Her podcasts alone have inspired me so much that I’ve been catching up on several episodes a day. (Not every day, but quite often!) I love how she is able to discuss different topics and reach her audience by sharing inspiration for living your best life. If you’re into podcasts like the Lively Show and Big Magic, you’ll love Lavendaire Lifestyle.

2| Blogging Courses

Y’all, I’ve been all about the downloads, e-courses, webinars, and everything else you can imagine. Whether it’s about pitching to brands, to learning more about Instagram—blogging courses in general have been my jam this month. I wanted to take the month to really focus on learning. So I put away the books for a month, and focused on courses, classes and videos. Needless to say, I have some plans for the blog I hope to share with you soon. I recently reviewed my notes from Erica’s #BrandOut presentation, and I’ve been putting some of those tips into actions. What blogging courses, webinars, e-books, etc. have you been loving? Make sure to share your favorites!

3| Pedicures

And if we’re being honest, I’ve been loving manicures, too. I go through phases where I get my pedicures done religiously basically from May to September and then stop from October through April. Because why spend money when your feet won’t see the light of day for months on end? So, I have given permission to treat myself for a few months out of the year for a pedicure and color change for summer.

4| Pinterest Inspiration

For awhile, I was lacking inspiration in all areas of my life, but especially with blogging and my journey toward living minimally. I felt lost and needed to kickstart my inspiration ASAP. Pinterest has been incredible for me this month because of the way I’ve been using it. I haven’t been aimlessly scrolling on my feed. Instead, I treat it like “studying.” Ask yourself, what is your goal? Are you trying to get some motivation for decluttering your closet? Are you looking for clogging resources? Social media is an amazing tool to help achieve your goals when you use the platform wisely.

5| Self-Tanning Products

Back in high school and early college, I would tan for two months out of the year. You know the awkward period from April through May where you can wear spring/summer clothes, but you look horrible because you’re still so pale? But I know how horrible tanning is for you, which is why I decided to take an alternative route for getting a healthy, glowing look. My favorite product has been The Banana Boat Self-Tanning Lotion. It’s only $7 at Target (yes, really!) and I love everything about it. You don’t need to apply much to see results, and it doesn’t leave that sticky feeling on your skin. TBH it will be my go-to product from now on.

Sharing Love: May

1| “I was born to stand out” from Erica

I was yelling, “YASSS, PREACH” during this post because Erica was dropping some major true bombs left and right. Needless to say, I was ALL about it. Especially when she discussed how giving yourself permission to live your best life, you’re giving others permission to live their best lives as well! All of her insights on this topic hit home for me, so if you’re looking for a pick-me-up post, I’d give this a read as soon as possible. P.S. Who else joined in for Brand Out because I LOVED it. Let me know your thoughts on it in the comments on her tips!

2| How to Find Community in the Blogging World from Summer

Summer is one of those bloggers I can always trust for some amazing blogging advice, and this post was no different. I loved reading more about what specific things you should look for when looking for a blogging community that’s right for you and your blog. She also talks about the importance of community in the blogging world, which is something I needed to be reminded of. What are some of your favorite blogging communities and groups that you’re part of through social media? I’d love to check them out!

3| Summer Reading List from Neely

Guys, I needed a little reading motivation this month. The last two months have been slow in terms of books that I’ve read, so I’m hoping to change that for June and July. Neely has amazing taste in books, although I might be biased because I think her and I have similar taste in genres of books, which is why I trust her reviews and opening of books. Her post gave me a ton of new titles to add to my list for summer. I’m hoping to knock out three books or more for summer, so I want to get to it.

4| How to Stay Motivated from Rachel

Sometimes, it can be difficult to always stay motivated and stay on top of every to-do list, task and list of goals you have set for yourself. I love how she talks about the importance of finding your high energy times throughout the day so you can focus on your most important to-do list items for productivity. Organization and scheduling your day is so important to getting things done and staying motivated! If you’re trying to work on these things, check out her post!

5| Finding Work-Life Balance in a 24/7 World from Kristen

We simply live in a world where we are expected to work all the time and that’s not healthy whatsoever. It’s so important that we take time to set work aside, destress, unwind and recharge for the next day, so we can have another productive day at work! When I fist started my full-time job, I was all about working extra hours, checking emails at any hour of the day, etc. Now, when 5 p.m. rolls around, emails stop and I give myself the rest of the evening to relax and take the time to work out, read, spend time with Josh, etc. How do you unwind after a long day?

5 Things to be Happy About: May Edition

Posted in Lifestyle
on May 1, 2017

Throw your hands up if you tweeted/shared/posted anything yesterday regarding today being May 1st! I don’t know about you, but I was singing, “It’s gon’ be May” ALL. DAY. LONG. without any shame. And I spent most of the day sending some pretty ridiculous snaps to my friends as well.

It’s safe to say that I’m looking forward to a new month. April was a whirlwind of adventures and lovely things between turning 23, traveling to Boston for a week and planning some exciting surprises here on the blog. I promise I’ll be sharing more on that soon!

In the meantime, I’m sharing what I’m looking forward to now that it’s May. Be sure to leave a comment sharing what you’re looking forward to this month!

1| One-Year Work Anniversary

I don’t know how a year already flew by, but it has been one year since I began my first marketing job. Needless to say, I couldn’t be happier with where I’m at in my career after one year. I feel so blessed to wake up and go to a job that I love, and where I’m constantly growing and learning about the field I’m in. P.S. I’m thinking about writing a post on what I’ve learned so far in the marketing field for those who are interested. Let me know if this is something you would want to read.

2|  Cinco de Mayo

Because who doesn’t want a reason to grab some margaritas with your best friends and celebrate? Or, if you would rather have a girls night in, check out some of these awesome recipes to make while you’re watching Netflix.

3| Spring Flowers, ya’ll

I promised myself I would be treating myself to the things I enjoy. And if you know anything about me, you’ll know that I love some fresh cut flowers. Peonies and Tulips are two of my favorite flowers, but I’m not discriminating on any other beautiful blooms. So I’m encouraging you all to treat yourself in some way this month, even if it’s a bouquet of flowers. Because it’s all about the little things in life that can make a day better. #amiright?

4| Unexpected Visitors

I’m learning more and more that last-minute plans turn out to be the best type of plans. I’m thankful for my friends who are always encouraging me to be spontaneous. Two of my best friends from college are driving down to visit me this month, and I’m so excited. The last time all three of us were together was more than two years ago, so this is going to be a great time to catch up and spend time together.

5| Memorial Day Weekend

Cooking on the grill, playing backyard games and relaxing for a long weekend is something I’m definitely looking forward to. May is going to be a very busy and productive month, so it will be nice to enjoy the end of the month with family, friends and a little bit of fun as we move on into June!

What are you looking forward to this month? Make sure to share any exciting plans (blogging related or personal) in the comments below!

5 Things to be Happy About: April Edition

Posted in Lifestyle
on April 3, 2017

I’ve always been a little biased about April because it’s my birthday month, so naturally I love this month more than some others. Raise your hand if your birthday month is April!? There is a lot that I am especially looking forward to this month, so I’m not too sure how I’m going to keep it to five things, but we’re going to try!

1| Travel

I find that I get to travel in April and May whether it’s for my birthday or I’m able to take time off from work because it’s not the busy season for us yet. This month, I’m going to Boston for a week for the first time with Josh, and we are both so excited to take time off from work and get a chance to explore a new city. We have been trying to schedule one city trip a year so we can explore new places every year. Needless to say, there will be some exciting travel-related content coming your way on the blog!

2| Treat Yourself

It might have to do with this month being my birthday month and the Easter season, but I find that I’m always more comfortable to treating myself to anything whether it’s dessert, wine, or an experience (like a trip to a new city)! After the holidays, I get pretty strict about eating healthy, working out and saving my money. After three months, I’m ready to give myself one (or several) treats!

3| Easter

Easter has always been a holiday I look forward to because it’s a time for family, food and it’s overall a relaxing and enjoyable day. We always celebrate the holiday at my parent’s house with a big brunch. We even still color eggs as a family and get chocolate treats from my mom! But hey, it’s a tradition my family has and loves, and it’s something I look forward to every April.

4| My Birthday

I’ll actually be in Boston on my birthday, so I think it’ll be a great way to ring in 23 years! Stay tuned for a post coming up soon on 23 lessons I’ve learned in 23 years. I think it’s something you’ll enjoy reading. When is your birthday month? Make sure to share in the comments below!

5| Spring Outfits

For those who don’t know, I’ve been ready for spring since January but the weather here in PA hasn’t been giving that to me. We had a snowstorm in the middle of March, and all I’ve been wanting is to have warm enough weather to wear spring dresses and outfits. I’m hoping April is when I can finally bust out my spring clothes since I haven’t been able to yet!

What are you looking forward to this month? Make sure to share in the comment below!

5 Things to be Happy About: March 2017

Posted in Health, Lifestyle
on March 6, 2017

Who else is so excited for the new month?!

Can we have a moment, y’all? I’m in denial about how quickly this year has passed by so far. 2017 has been beautiful so far, so part of me wants it to slow down a little. But I will say I’m ready for a new month and a new list of goals to accomplish.

Catch up on February’s edition of “5 Things to Be Happy About!”

Now we can move onto a little gratitude and happiness for March. Make sure to leave a comment below letting me know what you’re excited about for the month. Let’s share a little gratitude and happiness in the blogging community!

1| First Day of Spring

Last month I talked about how I was excited to skip through February so we can get into spring. You have no idea how excited I am to know that spring is around the corner. Spring is a sure sign that warmer weather and lighter days are ahead. It also means I get to finally change up my wardrobe after wearing winter coats and boots for months on end.

2| Lighter Days

You all know that Christmas is my favorite time of year. But once the holidays are over, I’m ready to jump in spring head on and get a little more sunshine and warmer weather in my life. Living in Pennsylvania can be difficult because it can snow until May. I’m definitely looking forward to more sun as the days grow a little longer.

3| Flowers

I’m all about fresh flowers and brining the beauty of nature indoors. March is when I can go crazy with buying new plants for my office, my home and treat myself to more flowers. Because life is too short to have a home without flowers, amiright? So make sure to #treatyoself to some fresh blooms this month because you deserve it (and it will bring a smile to your face every morning).

4| Spring Cleaning

Raise your hand if spring cleaning and decluttering makes you so happy you can’t stand it! (Oh, just me? Okay.) Anyway, I’m ready to go through my spring and summer clothes and declutter more as a new season begins. I’m also ready for a deep clean in our home to freshen everything in a new season. Do you have any spring cleaning checklists that you love? Make sure to send some my way!

5| Wardrobe Change

I’m all about making my needs few and focusing on my more minimalist lifestyle, but with spring comes a change in my wardrobe. I can start putting away bulky sweaters in exchange for light fabrics in pastel colors. My wardrobe and style will get a mini makeover this month as I edit my clothes and bring in new, staple pieces I’ve been looking for. Leave a comment below telling me what your spring wardrobe essentials are. I would love to know!

What are you looking forward to now that it’s March!? Do you have any exciting blog plans for the month? Make sure to share in the comments below!

Monthly Favorites & Sharing Love: February

Posted in Health, Lifestyle
on March 1, 2017

Goodbye February and Hello March.

TBH I’m in denial that it’s already the third month of the year. In some ways, I feel like so much has happened in 2017, but at the same time I feel like nothing has changed. Does that even make sense? I feel myself starting off this post way. too. deep. Before I get too philosophical over a cup of coffee, let’s get right into what I’ve been loving throughout the month. Make sure to leave a comment below telling what you have been loving this month whether it’s beauty, fashion, food, TV, books. If you’ve been loving it, I want to know about it.

1| The Flash

I already know people are going to judge me hardcore for this, but I have been binge-watching The Flash on Netflix and it is not okay. I went through almost three seasons in a month, which is pretty impressive (and embarrassing) if you ask me. But it’s a show Josh and I have picked up and we’ve been crazy about this past month.

2| Boscia Luminizing Black Mask

When I got my hands on the last black mask at my Sephora, I was SO happy. The store associate said they can not keep them on the shelves since beauty videos of the product have been going viral online. Needless to say, I’m used it A TON this month and my pores have been thanking me since. It’s perfect to clear your pores without irritating your skin.

3| Anastasia Brow Wiz

Why has it taken me this long to try this? I’m set in my ways when it comes to beauty products. If I love something, I will stay faithful to it until it fails me. I decided to give this a try once I found out I couldn’t order my other brow pencil. I’m happy that I couldn’t reorder it because this product has given me #eyebrowgoals and I’ve been loving it. I am a dedicated fan and have jumped on the bandwagon for this product.

4| Decluttering Videos

Want an easy way to get motivated to declutter? Watch other people declutter their homes, closets, etc. It will give you the motivation you need. I love watching people get rid of stuff, but it also inspired to go into into my own home and reevaluate what I need and don’t need. Trust me guys, you won’t regret it!

5| Self-Care

This past month, I teamed up with Erin from “A Welder’s Wife” to create a 30-Day Mental Cleanse Challenge that focused on self-care, and other mental-based challenges. The entire experience was eye-opening and helped me realized that self-care and challenging myself consistently is SO IMPORTANT for growth with minimalism, simple living and intentional living, too!

Sharing Love:

1| Mental-Cleanse Challenge Week One from Erin

I loved working with Erin on this project because she has always been a source of inspiration and motivation for me along my journey toward living a more minimalist, simple life. Seeing how she thrived in these challenges (not only in week one) motivated me to focus more on self care in my own life, and that minimalism is more than decluttering the items in your home. Catch up on all her posts from this past month on her blog!

2| 7 Investments Worth Making For Your Blog from Summer

Summer absolutely killed it with this post. Her talk about design, photography, and everything in between showed the main components of what you truly should focus on for your blog! She made me think about what I can invest in for my blog and how I can improve it in those specific areas she writes about.

3| Questions to Ask Yourself to Declutter Your Home from Erin

You all know I love reading motivational posts on minimalism, decluttering and everything related to simplifying your life altogether. Erin’s posts are always an awesome source of inspiration for me. She had me thinking: “I think I could get rid of X, Y and Z.” The one question that helped me get rid of more than 60 % of my closet is: “If I was out shopping today, would I buy this item?” Erin has a ton of amazing questions to help you declutter your home.

4| Life Happens—Why I’m Not Apologizing from Cara

ALL. THE. PREACH. HANDS. Cara absolutely slayed this post. I can’t tell you how much I needed to read this post because I’m sure many bloggers can relate to this. Life happens, and sometimes we can’t keep up with our content, social media, schedule, etc. But that’s okay! We are human and simply can’t do it all. We shouldn’t apologize for needing a break or to take a step back. Cara wrote a post that will truly resonate with you.

5| How to Streamline Your Schedule With Batching from Jenny

Jenny’s post helped me rethink how to schedule my time for blogging. Instead of thinking and working in a consecutive order: write post, take photos, edit photos, edit post, schedule social media; she taught me how batching can help me get more accomplished and feel less stressed. Since her post, I’ve incorporated this a lot more than just scheduling tweets and planning out Instagram content. It has changed how I schedule my time altogether.

What have you been loving this month and what blog posts you have loved this month? (So that I can catch up on your favorites!) Make sure to leave a comment below!
