5 Things to be Happy About: November

Posted in Lifestyle
on November 6, 2017

We’re two days away from completely diving into the holiday season, and I couldn’t be more excited. At the same time, I can’t believe that there are only two months left in 2017. My goal is to make these last two months of the year count, and enjoy as much of the holiday season as possible. Let me know what you’re looking forward to this month whether it’s Thanksgiving, holiday shopping, food, or something else going on in your life that you’re feeling blissful about.

1| Owning a Home

As you’re reading this, we’re moving into our home this week! It’s unbelievable to think that just a few short months ago, we decided to make the largest purchase we will ever invest in. Needless to say, our lives are packed up in boxes, and we are working on making our house a home. If you want to read more about our home-buying journey, give one of my recent posts a read!

2| It’s Acceptable to Think About Christmas

And by acceptable to THINK about Christmas, I mean that it’s acceptable to start listening to Christmas music, begin Christmas shopping, and participating in all the winter-related activities.  (I know not everyone will agree with me, but i know there MUST be some Christmas-lovers out there!) Once we get through Halloween, my attention is slightly moving away from wedding planning and moving, and now is focused on Christmas, baking, and all the holiday things.

3| Focusing on Gratitude

You all know I’m a huge proponent of expressing gratitude as often as you can, which is why I’m planning a challenge for myself to express gratitude all month long with journal prompts, random acts of kindness for coworkers and strangers, and everything in between. Last year, I had a list of challenges for myself and I found that doing one every single day was a little difficult, so I plan to spread the challenges out throughout the month.

4| Holiday Shopping

I am one of those people that will most likely have their holiday shopping done by Thanksgiving. Especially with moving into the house, wedding planning, work, and life in general, I try to work ahead as much as possible so that I’m not rushing around to the last minute and feeling stressed during the holidays. This year, I want to be more conscious about spending money after purchasing the house, so I’m looking into DIYs. Make sure to share any DIY gift ideas you have!

5| FOOD.

Need I say more? November is the beginning of a two-month eating frenzy that we indulge in. From pies and all the food during Thanksgiving dinner, to holiday cookie swaps in the office, you better believe that this month is the beginning of eating all the best food. And I’m ready for it.

What are you looking forward to this month whether it’s related to the holidays or something else good going in your life? Make sure to share in the comments below!

5 Things to be Happy About: October

Posted in Lifestyle
on September 27, 2017

Goodbye September + Hello October

I think I say this way more than I should, but I love fall. I love the season so much that I wish it could last a little longer, so we have more time to enjoy it before the holidays roll around. September was another month filled with work, blogging, wedding planning and other fun things. And I’m ready for a new month, with a new gratitude post on what I’m looking forward to.

1| Popcorn + Movies

Doesn’t October put anyone in a movie marathon mood? Whenever this month rolls around, I’m pumped about watching the Halloweentown movies on repeat throughout the month because they are essential during fall. P.S. What’s your favorite Halloween movie? Even on Halloween, Josh and I relax at home and watch movies. (And eat something delicious, duh.) It’s a cozy way to enjoy time together.

2| Fall Bucket List

I think it’s horrible to say I’ve lived in the Northeastern United States, and I’ve never been apple picking. I’ve done a lot of other stereotypical fall things like mastering a corn maze, carving pumpkins, movie marathons, baking and cooking all the fall recipes saved to my Pinterest board, etc. But your girl needs to: go to a football game + tailgate, have a bonfire, go apple picking, and made a homemade apple pie. What are your favorite things to do in the fall? Do you do a fall bucket list each season?

3| Wedding Dress Shopping

I’m surprised to say Josh and I have checked off a lot on our wedding to-do list, which will be wonderful to not worry about planning anything during the holidays. This month, I have two appointments booked to go look at wedding dresses for the first time; and I couldn’t be more excited. Although it’s just under a year away, it’ll be nice to have most of the wedding planning done early, so we can enjoy being engaged and celebrate time together.

4| Fall Drinks

There are so many awesome cocktails and hot drinks you can enjoy during this season, and TBH I want to host parties all-month long so I can have an excuse to make all these delicious drinks. I personally want to try the apple pie cocktail or this sangria that I would have pitches of! Do you have any other drink recipes you want to share—leave a comment letting me know, so I can make more drinks this month.

5| Decluttering + Packing

There will be a post on this coming in the next few weeks giving you all the details.; but let’s just say I’ve been taking my decluttering skills to the next level, and I’m extremely happy about how this experience has helped me see what I truly need and don’t need. Minimalism is refreshing when it comes to realizing how much we own in comparison to what we actually use.

What are you happy about now that it’s October? Are you ready for decorating pumpkins, cider donuts, and all the fall things? Make sure to leave a comment below telling me what you’re excited about this month!

Monthly Favorites & Sharing Love

Posted in Lifestyle
on August 28, 2017

August was a whirlwind.

I have SO MANY amazing things transpiring in my life, and I feel so blessed. I can’t wait to share them with you in upcoming posts on the blog, so stay tuned for new content and some exciting announcements. Make sure to let me know what’s been going on in your life recently and how your month was in the comments below!

Monthly Favorites:

1| Working Out

I have amped up my fitness routine to 4 or 5 days a week, and I have noticed a huge change in my mental health and well-being altogether. I have felt so good from the extra strength training I’ve been doing this month, and I hope to continue it in September, too. If you’re hoping to work out more, let this be encouragement to try new workouts and put your health first!

2| Home Decor Inspiration

HINT HINT. Need I say more? 😉

3| Focusing on personal goals

If you haven’t caught up on my vision board series, you’re going to want to check that out because I swear by vision boards to help me achieve my goals. And let’s just say that I’ve been working so hard to keep up with my personal goals and working on bettering myself. August was the month of accomplishing goals that I’ve only dreamed of accomplishing years from now. I can’t wait to share those in an upcoming post.

Sharing Love:

1| The Importance of Traveling

This post is so near and dear to my heart because I’ve been struggled a little with the same things talked about in this post. Adriana covers a lot in this post that reminded me that fear isn’t the option we should take in life, especially when it comes to traveling. One, because there are so many good people in the world; and two, letting fear in removes opportunities to educate yourself and explore the world.

2| TED Talks That Will Inspire You To Live Minimally

YASSSS to all of these TED talks in this post. As a minimalist who is inspired to live an intentional, blissful life, I am absolutely inspired by these videos and definitely encourage people to watch them even if they have the slightest interest in living more minimally. Remember, you don’t have to think of minimalism as an extreme, but rather a versatile lifestyle that can work for any person! One of my favorite videos is “The Masterpiece of a Simple Life.”

3| 28 Movies For Your Quarter Life Crisis

I think I began my quarter-life crisis back at 21…and no, I’m not kidding. I loved all of Rachel’s recommendations here and she event listed one of my all-time favorite movies, “Good Will Hunting.” She also shared some other movies that I’ve been wanting to watch for awhile now like “Wild” and “Dead’s Poet Society.” Let me know in the comments if you’ve gone through a quarter life crisis and how you handled it because let me tell you…the struggle is real.

4| Breaking The Cycle of Social Comparison

#ThingsINeedToStopDoing. TBH This post was incredible because I feel that so many people can benefit from reading it.  Amanda is amazing with her advice and her examples of how to get over the comparison game. Let’s stop comparing ourselves to others and downplaying our achievements in life. Life is complicated enough and placing that extra weight on yourself isn’t healthy. If you’re caught in the comparison game, I highly recommend reading this.

5| Hustling Hard And Getting Nowhere

“Do the things that bring you joy. Everything else is irrelevant.” Man, did this post SPEAK to me. You know when you read the right blog post as the right time when you’re not expecting it? That was this post for me. I love the tips Megan dishes out like taking time to enjoy doing nothing and taking a break from social media. This post resonated with me so much, and if you’re feeling some struggle with hustling—you’re going to want to read this post.

Have you caught up on these posts from these incredible bloggers? What have you been loving this month? What other posts can you share from your blog that you have loved this month? Make sure to share in the comments below!

5 Things to be Happy About: August

Posted in Lifestyle
on August 2, 2017

Hey, July. You were the best month to date this year.

And no, I’m not only saying that because I got engaged. But, I will say that was a HUGE part of it! Today I’m sharing all the wonderful things I’m looking forward to this month, and I would love to know what you’re excited about now that it’s August! Make sure to leave your plans in the comments below!

1| Wedding Planning

So, if you didn’t hear the news on Instagram or Twitter, your girl got engaged! It has been crazy the last few weeks and I’ve been taking every moment in as we begin this new chapter in our lives. If you want to hear more about how my fiancé (still weird to say) proposed, leave a comment below, and I’ll share all the details and photos in a post!

2| AuGUEST

Who doesn’t love a good pun, #amiright?! So, I’ve been making a ton of plans in August to visit with family and friends that I’ve literally claimed the month of August to be AuGUEST. I’m so excited to see friends and family members in our home here in PA, especially with the recent engagement—there will be so much to celebrate and enjoy this month.

3| Focus on Fitness

Because #WeddingBod, right? I don’t believe in going overboard with not eating and working out seven days a week just to fit in a dress for a day. That’s not me and everyone knows it. I am passionate about healthy living and working out consistently, but I have been falling off track because of celebrating the engagement. So, it’s time to get back to where I was at a month ago. Do you have any workouts you’ve been loving on YouTube? Make sure to send them my way!

4| BRUNO MARS Concert

Because of all the excitement of getting engaged, I completely forgot about going to see BRUNO MARS this month! If you know anything about me, you know that I’ve been loving him since the beginning and his new album is FIRE. So I cannot wait to dance all night long without a care in the world! Have you been to any concerts recently? Which ones have you been loving or looking forward to?

5| Enjoying engagement

It’s so easy to get caught up in all the hustle and stress of wedding planning because there are so many expectations and Pinterest-worthy pins your friends and family are sharing. But, I’m simply looking forward to being engaged to my incredible fiancé and enjoying every moment of planning our wedding together.

So tell me, what are you happy about now that it’s August? What plans do you have this month that you’re excited about? Make sure to share in the comments below!

Self-Care Challenge: Week 2

Posted in Health, Lifestyle
on July 14, 2017

One week down and three more weeks of self care to go! If you’re tuning into this challenge for the first time, make sure you catch up on my previous posts so you can learn about why I decided to create this challenge for July and how it will benefit you to begin focusing on self care. Are you ready for this week’s challenges?

Declutter your closet.

I did a huge overall f my closet a year ago, but I still go through it rather frequently because when I realize I’m not wearing an item, I will donate or sell it. On this day, I got rid of three pairs of shoes, two wallets, and a handful of other items as well. It’s amazing how much you don’t wear. As I continue to declutter these areas in my home, I find myself feeling happier every time. Read: 10 Questions to Help you Declutter your Closet

Do a random act of kindness.

My coworkers and I put together a gift for an employee who has been having a hard time. We got her and her children day passes to a water park, so they could enjoy the day together. She cried because it made her so happy, so of course I cried because she was crying. At least they were all happy tears! It warmed my heart to be able to do this. Whether it’s paying for the person’s coffee behind you, or leaving a note in a local bathroom, kindness can do wonders.

Try a new hobby and practice it during the challenge.

Fun Fact: I want to play the ukulele and I’m going to practice consistently throughout the remainder of this challenge to see how much I can learn over the next few weeks. Wish me luck! What hobby will you try for the remainder of this challenge? Make sure to share in the comment below!

Call/ FaceTime a family member to catch up.

I FaceTimed my friend which I do once in awhile. But since I haven’t seen them in so long, it’s always wonderful to talk and catch up on our lives like we’re actually together instead of states apart having coffee over the phone.

Plan a staycation in your town for a weekend.

My friend is visiting me for the first time in PA, so I’m planning a staycation with her that will be filled with things we’ve both never done before like: visit local museums, tour the beaches, go kayaking on the lake, and try restaurants unique to the city, etc. It’s fun to explore your own city sometimes.

Turn off your phone for a night.

This happened to be a day where I was feeling like I needed a break from social media and my phone altogether. I really put some time and energy into self care by having a glass of wine, reading outside on the patio, and indulging in some adult coloring. It’s the little things, right?

Write 5 things you’re thankful for.

1| Josh

2| My Job

3| Friends and Family

4| My Health

5| Self-Care

Week Three Challenges:

Create a calming playlist and relax while you listen.

Do yoga or Pilates for 30 minutes.

Plan a night out with friends.

Take a scenic drive.

Organize your digital life.

Write 5 things you love about yourself.

Treat yourself to your favorite dessert.

What tasks did you enjoy the most from week two? Which tasks were the most difficult? Make sure to share your experiences in the comments below!
