5 Looks I’m Lusting For: May

Posted in Fashion

For awhile, I have been lacking some inspiration with my style over the last month. With the weather being in limbo from spring to an awkward fall season all in one month. Finally, that lack of inspiration has been fading and slowly, but surely, I have feeling my inspiration for fashion come back. As we move into warmer months and the end of spring, I’m falling in love with simple staple pieces like denim jeans, sandals, and fun tops!

Today, I’m sharing some looks I’m lusting for this month. A common theme I’ve noticed for the looks I’ve been inspired by are more casual and versatile. My style has evolved so much over the course of a year, and as I get older, I realize that comfortable is far more important to me than anything else! But let’s be real, who doesn’t want a stylish outfit that’s also comfortable enough to wear from 7 a.m. to 10 at night? Make sure to leave a comment below on what fashion looks you have been inspired by recently.

Wedges + Off-the-Shoulder Top + Denim = a perfect combination for a late spring/early summer outfit! Although I don’t any gingham-patterned clothing, there’s something I love about this look. It reminds me of a New England staple pattern everyone would have if I went to Rhode Island. Maybe that’s why I find it so inspiring—it’s out of my comfort zone in terms of what I would wear on a regular basis.

Dark denim has always been my favorite. I feel like it’s the closest item you can consider professional because they’re sleek and can easily be dressed up with the right pair of shoes and top. Speaking of tops, can we talk about the trends going on in this one? These bell sleeves, high collar and cut-out shoulders are everything I want and need in my closet. Paired with trendy, neutral shoes, and you’re ready for a date night or a night with friends!

Last summer, the pom pom detailing exploded in the fashion world. However, I wasn’t fully on board with this trend because it was EVERYWHERE: bags, dresses, shoes, earrings, scarves. If you would wear it in some form, they could put some pom poms on it. Needless to say, I didn’t think I was going to love this trend, but when it’s put together with the right items like simple shoes and limited accessories, they can make an outfit pop!

Remember what I said about being able to put poms poms on anything and everything? Well, they’re on a pair of shoes; and I think I’m in love with them! I also LOVE that low-heel, chunky sandals are popular for spring and summer this year. I’m all about comfortable shoes I can wear all day long. No one has time for shoes that make their feet hurt. I also love the detail in the sleeves on this smock dress. It is something you can easily wear as early as April and wear until late October because of its versatility (weather permitting, of course).

Another trend that I’ve been seeing so much of recently (and loving) is the ruffles trend. Now, don’t get me wrong, this isn’t necessarily my style anymore, however I’m still inspired by feminine, soft looks like the one above. The ruffles paired with the off-the-shoulder trend makes this top “America’s Most Wanted” for spring and summer. I also have been loving all the different looks I’ve been seeing with white denim, it motivates me and inspires me to take out my own pair and actually wear them!

5 Looks I’m Lusting For: June

Although the beginning of June hasn’t been great as far as weather, I’m hoping this week will be a little warmer and brighter.

Today, I’m sharing five looks I’m lusting for this month, and I’m excited to share a summer-festive post with you all today. Leave a comment below sharing what fashion pieces you’re loving for summer!

One trend and style I’ve been loving recently are two-piece outfits like this matching off-the-shoulder top and shorts set from Kate. I love the soft, gingham pattern. I don’t own an off-the-shoulder top, but I’ve been seeing them everywhere, so I’m tempted to take the plunge and buy one. I also love how this outfit looks like a romper, but it’s two pieces, so you can pair them together for a cohesive look or split them up to create your own outfit.

Now that I’m in the working world, I’m all about finding fashion inspiration that is suitable for the office. This almost makes the cut (aside from the bare shoulders) but it’s easy to find inspiration in this look. Wearing the same work pants and blouse can be boring. What I love about this look is that you don’t even look like you’re going to sit in an office all day long, and the pants look incredibly comfortable. I feel like this would be a great outfit for outside the office as well.

There’s something about Sarah’s style that makes me want to completely change my wardrobe. Her look is always timeless, classy and sophisticated. Personally, I love the blue and green hues in her dress—they’re perfect colors to wear during this time of year. This would be a great option for a wedding, graduation, shower, or any other celebratory event this summer. Of course the dress is not complete without a pair of wedges, which I think are a staple for summer.

Where do I begin with this outfit? What initially drew me to this outfit was the lace-up front in the dress. I’ve been seeing that detail everywhere from tops to flats. If you can lace it up, it’s something you should buy. You can never go wrong with a floral-patterned, shift dress for summer. They’re easy, comfortable and functional for the season. Brie got this outfit down perfectly even with her shoes. These nude, chunky heels are a great way to complete this feminine look.

Emily is one of my favorite fashion bloggers to get style inspiration from. Her outfits are polished and put together in a short description. What drew me to this outfit was the all-white look pair with her turquoise blue earrings. For those who didn’t read my post, “5 Fashion Trends You Need” I talked about the popularity of statement earrings. There’s nothing more beautiful than showing off your favorite jewelry, so if you got it—flaunt it. Also, I love wearing white in summer, and this post inspired me to go through my closet and incorporate white into my outfits more often.

I hope this post left you feeling inspired and looking forward to the season ahead. Now get to your closet, and get out your summer pieces!

OOTD: Creating an Outfit Around Shoes

Posted in Fashion

And when you’re just trying to have fun while taking photos: BB111115-8

Shop the Look:

Top: Francesca’s (color no longer available, $24)

Leggings: Macy’s (currently on sale for $31.99)

Necklace: Charming Charlie (found on Amazon, $11.99)

Shoes: Stein Mart (no longer available)

Sunglasses: Francesca’s (no longer available $10)

Clutch: Macy’s ($19.99)

I wish these shoes were still available. I couldn’t find anything remotely similar to them online (trust me, I looked for at least two hours). As much as I love shoes, I don’t always have the right outfit to pair them with because they’re so unique.

Today, I decided that it was time to bring out the shoes I love, and make them work. I decided to create an outfit filled with color, so I opted for a dark-camel colored top with rhone colored leggings. The indigo/purple shoes definitely stand out in this look, which was my goal.

Sometimes, it’s fun to create an outfit around a statement necklace or a pair of shoes. It tests my creativity with fashion, so I plan to try this more often. This post was inspired by Chelsie from “Life with Rosie.” Make sure to check out her post on how she created a look around a pair of shoes. Thank you, Cheslie for the fashion inspiration!
