5 Things to be Happy About: October

Posted in Lifestyle
on September 27, 2017

Goodbye September + Hello October

I think I say this way more than I should, but I love fall. I love the season so much that I wish it could last a little longer, so we have more time to enjoy it before the holidays roll around. September was another month filled with work, blogging, wedding planning and other fun things. And I’m ready for a new month, with a new gratitude post on what I’m looking forward to.

1| Popcorn + Movies

Doesn’t October put anyone in a movie marathon mood? Whenever this month rolls around, I’m pumped about watching the Halloweentown movies on repeat throughout the month because they are essential during fall. P.S. What’s your favorite Halloween movie? Even on Halloween, Josh and I relax at home and watch movies. (And eat something delicious, duh.) It’s a cozy way to enjoy time together.

2| Fall Bucket List

I think it’s horrible to say I’ve lived in the Northeastern United States, and I’ve never been apple picking. I’ve done a lot of other stereotypical fall things like mastering a corn maze, carving pumpkins, movie marathons, baking and cooking all the fall recipes saved to my Pinterest board, etc. But your girl needs to: go to a football game + tailgate, have a bonfire, go apple picking, and made a homemade apple pie. What are your favorite things to do in the fall? Do you do a fall bucket list each season?

3| Wedding Dress Shopping

I’m surprised to say Josh and I have checked off a lot on our wedding to-do list, which will be wonderful to not worry about planning anything during the holidays. This month, I have two appointments booked to go look at wedding dresses for the first time; and I couldn’t be more excited. Although it’s just under a year away, it’ll be nice to have most of the wedding planning done early, so we can enjoy being engaged and celebrate time together.

4| Fall Drinks

There are so many awesome cocktails and hot drinks you can enjoy during this season, and TBH I want to host parties all-month long so I can have an excuse to make all these delicious drinks. I personally want to try the apple pie cocktail or this sangria that I would have pitches of! Do you have any other drink recipes you want to share—leave a comment letting me know, so I can make more drinks this month.

5| Decluttering + Packing

There will be a post on this coming in the next few weeks giving you all the details.; but let’s just say I’ve been taking my decluttering skills to the next level, and I’m extremely happy about how this experience has helped me see what I truly need and don’t need. Minimalism is refreshing when it comes to realizing how much we own in comparison to what we actually use.

What are you happy about now that it’s October? Are you ready for decorating pumpkins, cider donuts, and all the fall things? Make sure to leave a comment below telling me what you’re excited about this month!

10 Reasons to be Excited for Fall

Posted in Lifestyle
on September 20, 2017

Calling all my pumpkin-spice-loving blogger friends who are just as excited for OUR season as I am.

*casually shrieks*

You all know my love for fall is real, and I know that I’m not the only one out there who loves this time of year. The change in season IS on it’s way, and I’m going to tell you why I’m here for it. If you’re looking to bask in the glory of a beautiful time of year and bring a little bliss to your life, keep reading!

1| ALL THE COLORS

Leaves are bursting with color, which means that you take all the best blogging photos and Instagram photos by using apples, leaves, pumpkins, Starbucks cups and other cute props you can only use during fall. P.S. who doesn’t love taking photos when the leaves change color. It’s basically the number one bucket list item for fall.

2| The BEST Instagram theme

I don’t know about you, but there’s nothing better than everyone’s Instagram theme in the fall. Everywhere you go is a beautiful backdrop of color (from those gorgeous trees TBH). And, you can take all the cozy, dark looking photos to perfect your theme. I’m all about those vibes on Instagram during fall.

3| Pumpkin overload

Pumpkin spice lattes. Pumpkin pie. Pumpkin muffins. Pumpkin bisque. If it’s a food, you can add some pumpkin to it in some way shape or form this season and make it even better #amiright?! I’m hoping to work on my cooking and baking skills all season long, so please send some recipes my way!

4| Those awesome bucket lists

You know what I’m talking about. You write down your fall bucket lists that consists of everything you NEED to do this season: apple picking, perfecting your pumpkin pie recipe, go to a fall festival, make a baller Halloween costume, watch Hocus Pocus an absurd amount of times, Buy $100 worth of fall Bath & Body Works candles. You know, the usual list.

5| CoZy ViBeS

Fall is a prime time of the year for Hygge, which I’m going to appreciate and spend a lot of time focusing on this season. If you’re all about candles, blankets, books, and good food with good friends, you’ll love the concept of hygge. P.S. what books have you been loving lately? Leave a comment below so I can have some new things to read!

6| Fall style

We all agree that fall style is the best style, right? Because I don’t know about you, but I love that I can basically rotate between the same five sweaters and five pairs of leggings all season long and it’s appropriate. P.S. the layers of cardigans, scarves, and cute booties are must-haves when fall rolls around.

7| THE BEST FOOD

Soups, stews, and all the crockpot meals for days. The main reason I love the food during fall is because crockpots are so darn easy to use that it’s impossible to mess up. So, it seems like I’m #adulting and #wifematerial when really I’m just dumping everything in my crockpot and turing in on low for 8 hours. It’s a win-win scenario for everyone.

8| Halloween

I’ve never been a person who would get dressed up for Halloween and hit up several parties where I need four different costumes, but that doesn’t mean I don’t celebrate the day. We don’t get any trick-or-treaters where we live, but we typically relax at home, have a not-so-healthy meal, and enjoy tons of Halloween movies.

9| Thanksgiving

Although I’m pretty much in full-blown Christmas mode by Thanksgiving, it’s in the fall season. Going back to food because #priorities, Thanksgiving is one of the best days of the year because you can eat everything and anything and no one criticizes you. I’m trying to make everyday Thanksgiving because all I want is to eat mounds of food without judgement, but I guess it’s only reserved for this one holiday.

10| So. Close. To. Christmas

Need I say more?

So tell me, what do you love most about fall? What’s on your fall bucket list that you’re most excited about? Be sure to share in the comments below!

Take some time to get that gram-worthy photo of you with your beautiful apples you picked with your significant other, and then go home to make a pie or homemade applesauce.

Another way you can enjoy the fall leaves and the perfect temperatures is with a hike. Pack a light picnic and enjoy it at the end of your hike.

6| Carve Pumpkins

Take time to go through your local farms, and compete to find the best pumpkins. When you get home, you can see who comes up with the most creative design.

7| Go To A Haunted House/Hayride

I don’t like the feeling of being scared, but I don’t mind haunted hayrides or houses. Find your favorite one in your town for an easy, inexpensive date night.

8| Visit A Farmer’s Market

Get the most fresh fruits and vegetables you can find at your local farmer’s market. Take a bike ride into town and get all the best goods for some cooking.

Fall Skin Essentials

Posted in Beauty
on September 16, 2016

bb91616_1

I try to update my skincare routine based on the seasons because the essentials I use in Spring and Summer are completely different from Fall and Winter. Make sure to leave a comment below telling me what your fall skincare essentials are! I want to thank Götz for sponsoring this post and sharing their product with me. Without it, I would have never known a difference one treatment could make to my skin.

1| Makeup Remover

I changed up my makeup remover for fall to an oil-based makeup remover that’s not so harsh on my skin, which is why I’ve been loving the boscia makeup-breakup cleansing oil. I would definitely recommend this if you want a remover that won’t irritate your skin and that will remove all your makeup easily.

2| Cleansers and Scrubs

Cetaphil’s face cleanser has been in my routine for five years and I’ve used Lush’s Cup o’ Coffee for over two years. I can say that both products are wonderful for fall. I treat my skin to a scrub because of the change in weather, but I don’t need to change my skin cleanser because it works well anytime of year. Both are great for normal to oily skin types.

3| Moisturizer

Another set of products I’ve used for more than five years is the DayWear collection from Estēe Lauder. I’ve tried other moisturizers and serums over the years, but I’ve found that this collection works best for fall. Both products are incredibly hydrating but they don’t leave my skin oily or feel weighed down.

4| Treatments

Another newer product I’ve been loving this oxygen facial tonic from Götz. This product balances excessive oils in your skin, without drying out my skin for fall. It also helps soothe redness from blemishes. Let’s be honest, we all have pimples from time to time, so it’s nice to have a product in stock that helps treat any blemishes fast.

bb91616_3

After using the facial tonic for a month, I’ve noticed my pores are smaller, and I have less redness in the problem areas of my skin when I have breakouts. I love that it removes all impurities and leaves my skin feeling refreshed. If you’re interested in trying the product yourself, be sure to shop the facial tonic here!

What products have you been loving recently for your skincare routine? Leave a comment below so I can check them out!
