January Birchbox Unboxing

Posted in Beauty
on January 18, 2016

For Christmas, I received Birchbox for six months, which is easily one of my favorite gifts from 2015! It’s the gift any makeup and beauty geek can appreciate! I love watching people open their Birchbox for the month online, and reading posts about the products as well. So, I decided it would be a great opportunity to share what I received for the month, and what I’m excited to use!

I am relatively surprised by the amount of product you receive in each item, especially when some of the products are on the pricey side. I also love that they include a list of the products, the prices and a shor description of each products. Birchbox makes it easy to learn about what they’re sending you! Here’s a list of what I receive in January:

Ciaté London:

I have always wanted to try nail polish from Ciaté, but they’re so expensive, and I never knew if it would be worth the splurge for one bottle. I also love the shade the polish came in (glametal). I don’t own any polish similar to this one, so it’s a perfect if I want to spice up my manicure.

Clean Cashmere:

Back in 2011, I traveled to France and visited a perfume factory. This rich, crisp scent describes the smell from the factory. It made me sad because I miss France so much, but now it motivates me to travel back soon! If you love the smell of clean laundry, you’ll definitely love this scent.

Eyeko Fat Liquid Liner:

I was beyond impressed with the quantity of eyeliner given in this sample. I love that the felt tip of the pen is thick to help easily control your hand when you apply it to your lids. I’ve been working on mastering the perfect cat eye, so hopefully I can practice with this liner.

nügg Beauty De-Stress Mask:

I’m all about face masks. The more face masks, the better. This mask has 95% natural ingredients, and it helps with hydration, which is perfect because my skin needs a little extra TLC in the de-stressing and hydrating department.

Tonymoly Delight Tony Tint:

The scent of this lip stain smells of either cherry or strawberry. Either way, it smells like summer and you’ll be longing for sunny days when you wear it. It gives incredible pigmentation that lasts all-day long. If you love a bold red color, you’ll love this product. And, it’s only $6!

New Makeup Goodies!

Posted in Beauty
on January 4, 2016

A new year means new makeup products! I’m so excited about these goodies I’ve added to my makeup collection; and I can’t wait to create new looks with them in winter and spring.

Lancôme Makeup Brushes: Macy’s, $64

This brush set came with four brushes: a powder brush, a foundation brush, an angle shadow brush and a liner and shadow brush. Although I love my makeup brushes from Sephora, it never hurts to add a few more to your collection if you don’t own them. I know I’ll be using these daily.

Too Face Beautifully Blushed & Bronzed Set: Sephora, $25

I desperately needed new bronzers and blushes to try for winter looks. I only have one bronzer at the moment, and my blush collection is non-existent. So, this was a much needed addition to my makeup collection. I’ve taken a new interest in my face makeup more than eyeshadow and lipsticks.

Sephora Lip Gift Set

This is another gift set that is no longer available from Sephora. However, it comes with five different lip glosses that are perfect for traveling. I love having products set aside that I know I’ll be able to take on a trip or long weekend away. These will definitely be put to use while traveling.

Estée Lauder Liquid Lip Potion: Macy’s, $30

In my recent Estée Lauder Haul, I mentioned I’ve been loving their liquid lip potions. They last all day and they have incredible pigmentation. The newest addition to my collection is the shade 230 (Wicked Sweet). I think it’ll be perfect as we move forward into spring.

Too Faced Melted Liquified Lipstick Set:

Unfortunately, this is no longer available from Sephora, which is horrible because I think this is an awesome, inexpensive gift for someone who loves this collection. It features four colors that are limited from the regular collection from Too Faced. I can’t wait to use this for new makeup looks.

Too Faced Hangover Face Primer: Sephora, $32

There was a time where I thought primer was an unnecessary step in my makeup routine. Needless to say, I have changed my ways about wearing primer. Turns out, it’s one of my favorite products to shop for, which is why I’m glad about trying this primer from Too Faced.

Estēe Lauder Haul

Posted in Beauty
on December 21, 2015

Double Wear All Day Glow BB Creme ($38)

You all know how much I love the Revlon Photoready BB Creme, but I thought it was time to try a BB creme that was more high end. I’ve heard so many amazing reviews about Estēe Lauder’s brand, so I decided it was time to give it a try.

Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion ($30)

These are my new favorite lip product. They last all-day long, they have incredible pigmentation, and they’re easy to apply on your lips because they don’t bleed around your mouth. The color I choose are “Savage Garden” & “Fierce Beauty.”

Bronze Goddess Powered Bronzer ($37)

I used this bronzer for the first time back in high school, and I forgot how much I loved it. It’s gives perfect color and definition without making your face look too overdone. I’m almost out of my bronzer from Elizabeth Arden, so I can’t wait to use this.

Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Brightening Serum + Concealer ($34)

I’ve been using a concealer from Lancôme for most of the year, so I decided to switch it up for the winter season to something with more coverage. Most days, I only wear concealer, so it’s nice to have a formula with brightening effects and coverage.

Statement Necklace: Windsor, $15.90

I’ve been wearing this necklace so much throughout November. It has been my go-to piece for the month. It makes me feel edgy and chic, which is way out of my comfort zone. I love how heavy and bold it is for an inexpensive price.

Yog Nog Bath Bomb: Lush, $6.95

I rediscovered my love for Lush bath bombs. Typically, I stick to face products from Lush; but I decided to purchase some bath products. I fell in love with Yog Nog so much that I have repurchased it twice this month. If you love warm, toffee scents, you’ll love this product!

Salt and Peppermint Bark: Lush, $9.95

I have been obsessed with the body scrubs from Lush, so when I saw this holiday scrub was out—I knew I had to get it. I love the smell of peppermint around Christmastime because it reminds me of holiday baking. Anytime I use it, I want to whip up a batch of cookies.

Animal Kingdom Book: Francesca’s, $14.95

I’ve been coloring in my (adult) coloring book all month, and I’ve been loving it. It’s so relaxing to create something without being attached to my phone. I feel like the only time I’m creative is through blogging, so having this non-digital outlet has been great to reduce stress.

Villa Triste: Barnes and Noble, $5

When I purchased this back in October for $4.98, I was so excited. I love historical fiction, so anytime I can buy a bargain book for cheap at Barnes & Noble, I’m a happy camper. I finally set time aside to read more, and I truly love this book!

Marc Jacobs Perfume: Sephora, $92

Marc Jacobs understands me and the scents I love. I am rather selective when it comes to perfume because I don’t like a lot of floral notes in a scent. This means I have a limited choice. But Marc Jacobs never seems to fail me. This has been my go-to scent for the month.

St. Ives body Wash: Target, $3.97

When I need a break from all my Lush products (kidding, that’s not possible) I love giving my body a break and keeping it simple with St. Ives. It always feels extra refreshing on my skin, so my skin feels pampered and moisturized for the day.

Wine-Colored Wristlet: Macy’s, $13.99

Sometimes, I don’t want to carry my huge bag all day. Instead, if I know I’m going out to a dinner with friends, or running a few errands, I’ll throw my money, phone and card in my wristlet, grab my keys and go. It’s perfect for when I need free hands while Christmas shopping.

Irresistible Me Hair Extensions | Review

Posted in Beauty
on November 16, 2015

When do you feel confident? It is when you’re wearing a beautiful outfit, or when your hair is freshly styled? For me, my hair gives me confidence because it’s the first thing I notice about other people. Naturally, I want my hair to look luscious, beautiful and alluring.

Hair extensions have always been popular, and I’ve been searching for reviews and product information on hair extensions. Irresistible Me reached out to me about reviewing their hair extensions, so I decided it was the perfect opportunity to learn more about investing in them.

I choose the Royal Remy hair extensions: 16 inches and 100 grams in medium brown because I didn’t want to go too long or too thick. Since this was the first time I was using hair extensions, I was overwhelmed by what amount and style I should order. However, their representative helped me along the way, and I can’t thank her enough for her advice and assistance.

When I received the extensions, I was even more overwhelmed with how to put them in. After playing around with the extensions, I learned how to properly blend them in my hair in a natural-looking way. Since I never owned hair extensions, I had a hard time learning how to put them in my hair because there weren’t any guides or how-to suggestions for anyone who had never used them before. I’d definitely recommend they ship a “Hair Extensions for Beginners” tutorial for people like me.

After some practice with styling my extensions, I have grown more confident with wearing them and create different looks with them. Since the holidays are around the corner, you’ll be seeing more hair tutorials on the blog.

Here are the before and after photos. The first shows my hair without extensions, and the second shows my hair with the extensions in. Note, I’m wearing different clothing because I had to retake my “after” photos:

I will say that I noticed a huge difference in the thickness of my hair. Compared to other hair extensions I’ve researched, Irresistible Me offers a ton of hair in their seven-piece extensions. I also loved the quality of of the hair. It is beautiful, shiny and natural. I will say that I’m most impressed with the quality of the product for the price of the extensions. Other extensions for the weight and quality are over $200, so I love that it’s more affordable for people on a budget.

Overall, I think hair extensions from Irresistible Me are worth the investment if you’re looking for an easy way to change up your hair for the day. For me, I always feel more confident with my thick, shiny locks.

If you’re a pro with wearing and styling hair extensions, I would love to know any tutorials or tips you have!
