I feel like I had an opportunity to try a lot of amazing beauty products this month that I absolutely loved, which is why the majority of my favorites this month and beauty related instead of a mix of beauty, fashion and random items. Make sure to share what your favorites were for May, so I can try them out for June.

MAC Lipstick in “Modesty:” $17

I feel like almost everyone who love beauty products has owned a Mac lipstick at some point in their life, but I’m about to drop a HUGE beauty truth bomb by saying that this is my first Mac lipstick I have ever owned. Yes, I know it’s crazy, but I’ve never had the desire to buy Mac growing up until I discovered its wonderfulness when I traveled to Austin. I’ve been wearing the shade Modesty every day throughout the month of May.

L’Oréal Voluminous Mascara: $8

Back in April, I wanted to step back from my Lancôme Definicils mascara because I felt like it wasn’t giving me the same results as when I first began using it about two years ago. I haven’t purchased drugstore mascara for a long time, so after a few hours in Target I found my latest mascara obsession from L’Oréal. For $8, this mascara works wonders on my eyelashes by lengthening them, and making them look full and bold all day long.

Simple 24 hour day/night cream: $12

I’m pretty weary about straying away from my typical skin care routine products because I’m worried they will irritate my skin, or make me break out. Simple Skincare was the first time I stepped out my comfort zone because I’ve been in love with their Micellar Cleansing Water, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to try other products as well. I’ve loved how effective this cream is, but it doesn’t make my skin feel heavy or oily like other night time moisturizers.

Estée Lauder Lipstick in “Barely Nude:”

Typically, I am all about pink shades for spring and summer, however I’ve found a love for wearing nude shades this year. When I’m not wearing my Mac lipstick, I’m wearing this color from Estée Lauder. Although the shades are somewhat similar, I feel that this lipstick has more neutral, brown tones whereas my Mac lipstick has more neutral, pink tones in it. It’s a wonderful color to wear at anytime of year, which is why it made its way into my favorites for May.

Cross Bracelet:

I feel like I’m throwing you guys for a loop here because this is the only non-beauty favorite for this month, but I’ve been loving this bracelet I purchased from Bourbon & Boweties a few months back on my trip to Albany and Saratoga to visit one of my college friends. It was from 25 Silver Boutique, which I have never been to before, so I knew it was time to treat myself to it. I love the gold pair with the white in the cross for spring and summer.

  • I love that mascara! I haven’t used it in a long time (not sure why I switched?) but I think I’m due for some new stuff so maybe it’s time to switch back!

    • I’ve been in the same situation with other makeup products. I’ll forget why I stopped using something, and then I’ll pick it back up a few months/years later and fall in love all over again! Thanks for your comment!

  • Yes!!! Modest is my favorite and only second MAC shade 🙂 and that mascara… Yes. It’s all I’ve used for over a year now. So reasonable !

    • I’m learning more and more that many beauty bloggers haven’t tried MAC lipsticks. But that definitely makes me feel good that I wasn’t alone!

  • I have yet to try a MAC lipstick (I know, what’s my problem?!) so maybe I will go snag one this weekend!

    • I was the same way, girl. But honestly, $17 isn’t that bad for a high-end brand. I feel like Too Faced and Urban Decay are in the $20 to $24 or more range. So really, MAC isn’t as bad as I thought for lipstick. It truly does last throughout the day–even through meals!

  • Annie Marie

That’s my all time favorite mascara! I always go back to it!

    • I’ve heard that from so many people prior to purchasing it, and now I can see why!

  • Call me crazy, but I’ve yet to try MAC lipsticks! They’re on my wishlist, but I could never justify spending more on lippies when I have so many drugstore favorites. Maybe I”ll have to take the plunge???
