Let’s be honest; life can be busy and stressful. Although we might love life and love what we do, it’s important to take a step back and treat ourselves.

I think this applies to (almost) everyone when I say scheduling a massage, facial, and mani/pedi once a month isn’t feasible. Since we are all trying to saving money where we can, this means cutting back on some luxuries in life.

But you have another option. At-home spa nights are my go-to solution for treating myself to an evening of relaxation and pampering. It saves money, and you make the spa night your own. Here are my must-haves and “how to” tips on creating a spa night at home. You’ll add a bliss to your life and wallet knowing you saved some money and still treated yourself.

BB81015-2Some of my essentials for at at-home spa night include:

Manicure and pedicure tools:

Make sure you go all out with your pedicure. Bring out the nail clippers, nail file, buffer, cuticle oil, and nail polishes. You can even get a spa-like pedicure by soaking two washcloths in warm water, and warming them up in the microwave for 15 seconds. Wrap one washcloth around each foot.

Body scrub, bath bombs, bubble bath, etc:

I always recommend using a body scrub before shaving and taking a bath. Pick up bath bombs from Lush or bubble bath from Bath & Body Works and relax in the tub for 20 minutes. You’ll enjoy not thinking about work, school or other commitments for the evening.

DIY products:

If you want to make your own face mask, hair mask, etc., keep some essentials in your home like: coconut oil, honey and avocados. You can easily use these products (and others) to create luxurious products at home.

Miscellaneous:

Set the mood with calming soundscapes or your favorite playlist, and light candles in the bathroom or your room. Burn essential oils like lavender or incense in your room for a soothing effect. Take time to breathe and enjoy the moment. Or, fill up your sink with hot water, drape a hot washcloth over your head and breathe. You’ll cleanse your pores and your skin will feel refreshed.
