For the last year, I’ve been wearing the POREfessional from Benefit Cosmetics, which you can purchase from Sephora for $31. I do love everything about this primer, including the smell, texture, ease of application and its durability throughout the day. A little product goes a long way, and I’ve had this product long enough to prove it.
Back in December, I knew it would be time soon to purchase a new primer. I have read and watched so many wonderful reviews from the Too Faced Hangover Face Primer, which costs $32 from Sephora.
After trying and experimenting with both products, I decided to do a “Battle of the Primers” to show the positives and negatives between both brands.
First, although the difference between the primer is $1, you have 1.35 oz of product in the Too Faced primer verses the Benefit primer, which only has .75 oz. For me, that’s a huge indication of what primer I would continue to repurchase. If I’m buying a product, I want to make sure I am getting my money’s worth of the product. So, knowing there is more product in the Hangover is one point toward Too Faced.
Now, I am a person that strongly considered Sephora.com reviews because they’re typically a great indicator of what the product will be like. The Benefit POREfessional primer had 3,822 reviews whereas the Too Faced Hangover primer had 515 reviews. So when I saw that Benefit’s was 4.2/5 stars verses Too Faced’s 4.1/5, I knew they were incredibly close in terms of quality.
So, now it’s time to get into the big questions I’m sure you want answered:
Which primer is better for minimizing pores?
Benefit’s POREfessional. This is the one primer I swear by in order to minimize your pores and create a clean canvas for your makeup to last all day long. If your biggest problem area is your pores, I would definitely recommend Benefit’s primer over Too Faced.
Which primer is more lightweight?
Too Faced Hangover. If you only need a thin layer of primer in order to apply your face makeup flawlessly, I would recommend the Hangover primer to you. It’s also best if you struggle with dry patches on your skin in winter, this is a great primer that won’t dry out your skin, and has a lightweight formula.
Which primer evens out your skin the best?
Benefit’s POREfessional. There might be some people who disagree with me, but I think Benefit’s formula works the best to even out any imperfections in order to create a fresh canvas to apply your makeup on. You will definitely prefer Benefit’s primer over Too Faced.
Which primer has a better texture?
Benefit’s POREfessional. This was such a close comparison, but I prefer the silky, smooth texture from Benefit’s formula much more than the formula from Too Faced. Again, I believe both primers have great texture for easy application, but Benefit’s is better because of the smoothness.
Who won this battle?
Benefit’s POREfessional primer. Although there is less product in the bottle, a little goes a long way. Overall, the positives of this product strongly outweigh the negatives. Although I love Too Faced’s primer as well, I think I will continue to repurchase Benefit’s primer.
