A Day in My Life

BB81516_A Day In My LifeIt’s fascinating to step into someone’s life. I love to learn more about people and what they do throughout the day. Since beginning my 9-5 job, my daily routine has change quite drastically. I also plan to post a “Day in my Life” weekend edition, so you can see the differences in my weekday routine verses my weekend routine.

7:00 AM:

I begin my day at 7 in the morning. I’m trying to hopefully wake up at 6:30, so I can do a short, 20-minute workout each morning before beginning the day. However, that hasn’t happened yet, but don’t worry—I’m working on it!

7-7:30 AM:

It only takes me 30 minutes to wash my face, brush my teeth, apply makeup, do my hair, get dressed, and make the bed. I essentially have my morning routine down pat, and I love that because it makes the mornings more enjoyable.

7:30-8 AM:

This is when I take time to publish my blog posts, share them on social media, etc. I read and comment on some of my favorite bloggers, so I don’t worry about it later after work. I also eat breakfast (my go-to is oatmeal with cinnamon and blueberries) and have coffee.

8:15 AM:

I’ll drive to work and talk to my parents on the phone (don’t worry it’s on Bluetooth) each morning. I’m very close with my parents, so I love taking ten minutes out of the day to say hello, and chat about anything that has been going on.

8:30-5 PM:

I’m fortunate to say I love my job. Evey day is different. I could be planning an event one day, put out new marketing materials on property, or meeting with companies for sponsorship, marketing and advertising opportunities. As a Marketing Director, my job is a mix of social media, marketing, event planning, PR and advertising.

5:30-6:30 PM:

This changes depending on if it’s a Monday/Wednesday (Josh and I will workout and run/walk during our interval training for an hour) or a Tuesday/Thursday (I’ll cook meals for the upcoming days, and get myself dinner.)

6:30-9 PM:

Again, this can changes on those certain days because Josh works Tuesday and Thursday nights. On those days, I’ll blog, clean, read, relax, or run errands depending what needs to be done. On Monday and Wednesdays, Josh and I will eat dinner, prep for the next day, watch TV/spend time together.

10:30/11 PM:

I try to stop social media scrolling at 10 p.m., so that I can begin my evening routine and prep for bed. It’s lights out for me around 10:30 or 11 at night. This is very early for some people, but I make sleep a priority, so I need my eight hours each night.

Before my mom passed away I used to talk to her every day on my commute to work. It was definitely something I took for granted! Your day looks a lot like mine except if I stayed up until 10 or 11 I would be so cranky the next morning! haha!

    • If you set an alarm at night to remind yourself to stop scrolling on social media, then it’s so much easier to fall asleep!

  • You are a very busy person. LOL Sounds a lot like my schedule only flip it since I work nights. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t so busy all the time but hey it keeps me out of trouble right?!

    • I don’t mind the crazy schedule because I love my job so much! I hope you enjoy your job as well!

  • That’s such a sweet habit that you call your parents each morning on your drive to work. I’m close to my parents too, so I can really appreciate that!

    • I love talking to my parents every morning! I have always been close with them, too, so it’s nice to schedule that time to talk each morning!

  • Ivanna

Love how structured your day is. I think having a planned out day is important for reducing stress!

    • Thank you, Ivanna! I think it’s great to have a routine for your day!

  • Lauren Norton

Your day is so well-planned! I love it! Mine is a tad more hectic but once I get back into the swing of things with school and work, it will be better. I’m in the bad habit of late night and late mornings currently. Monday will be ROUGH! Good job turning off electronics before bed. I recently started doing that and it has helped a TON.

    • Thank you, Lauren! I’ve always been big about organization! I’m glad you’re also working on shutting off your phone before bed. I fall asleep so easily now!

  • Our day is very similar. I’m the marketing coordinator for a mall so I’m basically doing social media, PR, advertising, and event planning all wrapped into one too. It’s definitely a little crazy but its such good experience.

    xoxo, Jenny

    • We will have to chat more about work-related things and bounce ideas off of each other! I’m sure our days are very similar (AKA crazy)!

  • Well done for keeping up such a great blog and working full time. I like to have my day planned out too.

    • Thank you so much for your sweet comment, Wendy! It isn’t always easy, but I love my blog and the blogging community so much! 🙂

Up at 6:00 am get dressed, make bed and out to feed and water the chickens. Fix breakfast for everyone. Lately it has been canning or dehydrating everyday.

    • That’s sounds like such a unique morning routine. It’s awesome that you have your hobbies and passions you do first thing in the morning!

  • My day is all out of sync right now (it’s the summertime, and I am still in school.) Even during the school year it’s pretty weird as I am a graduate assistant and a graduate student so it really depends on the time of year/what classes I am taking/when I decide to work/etc. I am trying to wake up earlier though and go to bed at a decent time, but that doesn’t always go as planned.

    • I completely understand where you’re coming from! I just finished my Master’s in IMC, so my schedule was different every few weeks based on work, school, blogging, etc.

  • I love how structured your days are! Why oh why can’t I get mine like that?!?! and what makes it so bad is that I get up at 5am and still feel like I have no time for anything! You should truly make a post on how to structure your day!

    • I will DEFINITELY write this, Christal! I feel like so many people have been commenting about how organized I am and how I plan my day! Thank you for the request!

  • Sarah Jean

Nice! A day in my life starts at 6:30 when I do a 30 minute workout, shower at 7, eat breakfast at 7:30, head to work by 8:30, be at work until 6pm (perhaps check on my blog or social media on my lunch break!) head home, make dinner, write a blog post, watch Netflix, fall asleep by 9:30 as my husband pokes me and asks if I’m fallen asleep yet. 🙂

    • You are so productive! I can’t image having a day like yours, and you’re still able to get so much done with your work day!

  • Jessica Hughes

You are rocking it! I love that you have a structured schedule, my day goes so much better when I have a structured schedule.

    • Thank you so much, Jessica! I love having a schedule because it helps me stay stress free. It also helps my day flow easily.

  • Tara Berries

Seems like you have a busy day! You are good at staying on top of things!

    • Thank you so much, Tara! I try to make sure I’m working hard so I can treat myself and relax after the end of a long day.

  • Taylor Smith

My day is waking up, blogging for a few hours, get ready and then go to my day job!

  • damn super organized! My day is similar without being organized about it lol

    • I love structuring my days so that I can be productive without completely draining myself! I also “schedule” in time to relax, so i don’t forget to give myself a break.

  • You are so organized! I sometimes wish I had a part time job just so I could be more structured in my time. I get up and don’t have anywhere to be except my home office, so I bum around in my jammies for a while and before I know it, the whole day is gone!

    • Thank you so much, Chelsie! I find that there are so many stay-at-home workers that struggle with this! My tip is to treat your job like you have a “9-5.” Set an alarm, get up, get ready and prepare to set aside a solid chuck of your time in the morning to work on your blog, etc. They say you are most productive in the mornings (even if you’re not a morning person)! Change up your routine a little bit, and you’ll see a HUGE difference! 🙂

  • Shani Ogden

I wish I had a better morning routine so I could get my day started before my kids start it for me. But I’m working on it!

    • Take it day by day! It will get easier to get into your morning routine.

  • I love that your routine is so set! I am not a morning person so I always want 20 extra minutes to wake up before I roll out of bed. You are so organized and I love that!

    • Thank you so much, Brittany! I do try to stay as organized as possible because it removes so much stress from my life.

  • I always love getting a glimpse into the daily life of others. It’s great that you take the time to call and talk to your parents on your way to work!

    • Me, too! These are typically my favorite videos/posts to watch/read. I love my parents, so talking to them always makes me happy 😉 Thanks for your comment, Crystal!

  • Terryn Winfield

Ha, so true! I love getting a peek into other routines. I have my morning routine down too, it makes the day start off on the right foot. I’m in bed around 10, maybe 11, and up around 6.

    • I’m hoping to begin the day a little earlier (around 6:30) so I can incorporate a short workout before the day begins!

  • I wish I had the discipline to get up at 7 in the morning every day haha. I was actually pretty good at it, but my schedule was flipped this summer and I was forced to stay up later than I normally do, and wake up later lol. But good for you for having the drive to do it! I’m not as loyal to my schedule lol

    • That’s okay if you’re not an early riser! I feel like most people aren’t–but I love the mornings! I’m typically falling asleep by 11 at night, haha!

  • I envy you for having to get up at 7 in the morning, I always need to wake up between 5:30 to 6:00 because I need to get to work by 7. Oh adult life…

  • Dia

This is a cute idea. I need to work on getting up earlier but I just love my bed so much. I don’t think I could do a weekend addition because it always changes. I work for a digital marketing company. It sounds like our jobs are very similar.
