10 Things to be Happy About: November Edition

Posted in Lifestyle
on November 7, 2016

Another month has flown past us, which means that I’m sharing a late post on 10 things I’m looking forward to now that it’s November. If you’re a Christmas lover like I am, you’re most likely soaking up all the Christmas festivities for the two months you have to enjoy it all. If you’re looking for a happy, light-hearted post, keep reading for little bliss in your life.

1| All. The. Layers!

Now that it’s November, it’s undeniable that we will be dressing in excessive layers for the late fall months. I will admit that I don’t mind busting out my sweaters and leggings for this time of year. I feel more comfy in clothes at the end of the year.

2| Expressing Gratitude

I’m working on spreading kindness and expressing gratitude for all the people in my life. If you’ve read my recent post, I’m challenging myself to do something kind or as an expression of gratitude all month long. It’s the season of giving back and sharing love.

3| Holiday Shopping

I make it my mission to get all my holiday shopping done before December. Now, I will admit that I don’t get every little bit of shopping done. But I try to get more than 90 percent of it done this month, and I can’t wait for Christmas shopping this season.

4| Christmas Music

You best believe I’m be blasting Michael Bublé’s Christmas album. (As I pretend I haven’t been listening to it already…) I don’t know what it is, but I am in the minority of people who love Christmas music. I only have two months to enjoy it, so I’ll be doing just that.

5| Starbucks Holiday Drinks

Y’all, Chestnut Praline Lattes are everything I want and need around this time of year. I try not to go overboard with my Starbucks visits, but I do treat myself a little more to these around this time of year since they are seasonal.

6| World Kindness Day

Mark your calendars for November 13th and do something kind because let’s be honest; the world could use a little more kindness. #amiright?! I have been challenging myself to do an act of kindness or show gratitude in some form throughout this month.

7| My Anniversary

Josh and I have been together for over three years! I’m happy to say after more than six months of living together, we couldn’t be happier. After being in an LDR for over two years, living in the same place has been a wonderful change. I’m looking forward to celebrating with him this month.

8| Thanksgiving

It’s the one day a year you can’t be judged for eating excessively. Even though I don’t care if people judged my excessive eating on a regular day. I’ll be eating stuffing and pumpkin pie until I can’t breathe; and I’m looking forward to all the pain and regret afterwards that will come from eating too much.

9| Black Friday

I’ve worked on Black Friday every year since I was 16, and I don’t hate it. At least this year I won’t be involved in the retail side of things, but more the marketing side of it, which I know will be fun and exciting in the midst of a crazy day.

10| Cooking

Late fall and early winter is the time of year where I want to cook more, and learn and practice new recipes. I have saved quite a few recipes from Pinterest, and I can’t wait to try them out all month long. I’ll be sure to let you know which ones have been my favorites!

Hey! I am really looking forward to family coming into town and being with family and friends this Holiday. It is a tough year for me- my first leaving my job and starting my business so gifting will have to be extra thoughtful and inexpensive!

    • Good for you for focusing on your own business, Wendie! I’m sure your family will appreciate the thoughtful gifts for the holidays!

  • I can’t wait until Thanksgiving! I also have the goal to finish my Christmas shopping (or most of it) this month so I am not scrambling next month! Have a wonderful November!

    • Thank you so much! Good luck with all of your holiday shopping this month. I’m hoping to get through mine as well!

  • Abby

Have you listened to Pentatonix’s Christmas albums? I have two on Amazon and I listen to them pretty much exclusively from November through December. Even my high school students can’t get enough.

    • I have, Abby! I love their version of, “Mary, did you know?” Such a beautiful version. I love all of their covers of songs, though!

  • Michelle Lynn

I’m excited for all of those things too! <3 I truly love this time of year!! ENJOY!

    • Thank you so much, Michelle! I am so happy to hear you love this time of year as well! Enjoy this month, too!

  • All the layers!! <3 You got that right!!! I love fall.

CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!! YESSSSSS! The holiday season makes me so happy! 🙂

    • I love knowing that other people enjoy and appreciate Christmas as much as I do!

  • I love this time of year! I’m looking forward to the busy season at work meaning some opportunity for overtime so I can pay off some bills. Also, can I admit I’m looking forward to election season ENDING!?

    • Yes you can because I’m sure there are MANY people who are happy that the election season is ending. Also, I love that I’m entering the busy season at my work as well! It makes the time fly by, and it’s the more enjoyable part of the year at work, too!

  • Yes! I’m so happy about all of these things. I didn’t realize how excited I was for Christmas music until I heard it playing at the grocery store yesterday. Tis the season!

    • Yes! I feel the same way about Christmas music sometimes! I know many shops have it playing already, and once I heard it I thought, “YES, I LOVE IT!” It put me in a happy mood immediately!

  • Love this list and totally agree with everything! I’m trying to get my holiday shopping done early this year since I’m have a baby somewhere around December 16th…which doesn’t leave a lot of time for shopping. It’s making me super spirited and happy! I’m just ready to put the tree up and wrap! 🙂

    • I feel the same way, Jackie! I love having the spirit to put up the tree, decorate, shop for gifts for friends and family, and do everything for the holidays. We have a ton of time to appreciate the season!

  • Samantha

I think November is my favorite month, it just makes me happy. I love fall, and soup, and everything Thanksgiving! Happy anniversary!

    • Thank you for the anniversary wishes, Samantha! I hope you enjoy your month with Thanksgiving! 🙂

  • November is such an in-between kind of month for me lol I love October because it’s full of fall activities and then you have December which is the holiday season. Then there’s November haha it just doesn’t do as much for me. But I am super excited for Thanksgiving and I was so happy when the Starbucks holiday drinks came back!

    • My goal is to make November a more enjoyable month by having a mix of those fall things, and bringing in more holiday things as well so that it’s a transition month from fall to winter/Christmas! Haha! I feel like that will make the month more fun and exciting for me 🙂

  • Lauren Norton

Wow! You have so much to be happy about! That is great! Happy early anniversary! Enjoy all those layers – I am finally able to break mine out! Have a fantastic month!
xoxo Lauren @ Glitter & Grandeur

    • Thank you so much for your sweet comment (and anniversary wishes) Lauren! I appreciate it! Happy November!

  • Yes for world kindness day! I wish everyday were that! I’m hoping it starts cooling down here a bit soon so I can start wearing scarves and layers! 🙂

    • I agree that would Kindness Day should be every day! It has definitely cooled down here in PA, so I’ve been all about layers even though it’s not as cold as normal! Thanks for your comment, Cara!

  • Neely

Its like you read my mind! im happy for red cups, the holly station on XM, all the holiday stuff in stores 🙂

    • I definitely need to find the holiday stations on XM and make Starbucks holiday drinks a regular purchase each week, haha! 🙂

      • Neely

        17 on xm 🙂

  • So many good things in here! (Side note- you’re like the ninth person this week to talk about Chestnut Praline Lattes; think I need to get my hands on one). It’s funny – I LOVE summer and warm weather but when we had some unseasonably warm days this past week I didn’t like it. I love this season and getting all bundled up and lighting candles and doing all those stereotypical ‘fall’ things. Plus, CHRISTMAS MUSIC IS AMAZING. (Not quite ready for that one yet though)

    • I completely understand where you’re coming from with not being fully ready for Christmas music. Although I have listened to some of Michael Buble’s Christmas album…it’s hard to truly get in the spirit when the weather has been in the 50s and sunny! But yes, you definitely need to try a Chestnut Praline Latte ASAP, girl!

  • Adriana

I can agree with SO MANY of these!!! And I really needed this today. : ) This is such a great list and such a great time of year to be happy!! xoxo

    • Thank you so much, Adriana! I’m happy to know that this was something you enjoyed reading!

  • I love November! Just reading this gets me excited!

    • I’m so happy you’ve enjoyed reading this and that you’ve excited for the month, Brittany!

  • Leslie Soto

YES to all of this! So many amazing reasons to celebrate and be thankful! I’m so ready to get my baking started and to celebrate mine and my hubby’s 4 year dating anniversary (we started dating December 15th & got engaged on December 23rd) so the holidays have an even more special meaning to us, too!

    • That is so sweet to hear about your engagement, so you definitely have a lot to celebrate at this time of year! I cannot wait to get to baking more for the season!

  • Nicole D’Amato

I love dressing for the cooler weather!<3 I also love holiday drinks 🙂 Had my first one this last weekend!

    • I haven’t had a Starbucks holiday drink yet! Honestly, my days have been so busy with work, I haven’t had time to treat myself to a trip to Starbucks recently!

  • Laina Turner

As much as I love summer I do love fall fashion. And as you stated..the layers. The colors and the fabrics are a close second.

    • Yes! I’m all about the colors, fabrics, and patterns as well that are seasonal for this time of year, too! But you can never go wrong with layers!

  • Rachel Golden

There are seriously so many things to be happy about this month! I love love love ALL OF THESE! hahah, layering is my favorite way to dress & who doesn’t love Thanksgiving and Starbucks Holiday cups?! I always feel so festive this time of year 🙂

    • I am the same way, Rachel! I think it’s great to enjoy the holiday season because there is so much to love and appreciate since it’s only here for two months.

  • Emily Bendler

This list is perfect. I just got a new Christmas album of the cast of Broadway shows singing Christmas songs and I can’t wait to check it out!

    • That is awesome! As someone who loved Christmas music, I would LOVE that! Let me know if you like it or not!

  • Heather Gullett Denniston

So awesome to focus on the positive. I love making these kinds of gratitude lists as well. Awesome!

    • Thank you so much, Heather! I’m happy to know there are other people who do this as well, and enjoy reading this type of content!

  • Elizabeth Johnson

  • Renee L Stambaugh

Looking forward to Thanksgiving with my family.

    • Enjoy it! I’ll be missing out my Thanksgiving at home this year, but I’m so thankful I’ll be spending it with my boyfriend’s family!

  • Layers!!! YES! November is huge for Michael and I! It’s our first kiss anniversary, dating anniversary, AND engagement anniversary!

  • I am so happy that it is finally looking like fall here in TX. I actually wore leggings and boots today. I was quite excited about it! I love Christmas music! Of course Starbucks holiday drinks are my thing!!!

  • I love the holiday season – it’s definitely my favorite time of year. These are all wonderful things to be happy about.

  • YES TO ALL THE CHRISTMAS MUSIC! I’ve been listening to it nonstop and it’s really lifted my spirits. I’m also going to start playing the holiday movies and I can’t wait!

  • Oh girl, I love your list! I love the holiday season and reflecting on everything I am grateful for and sharing the holiday cheer. Wishing you a happy holiday season. xoxo

  • Layers layers layers and more layers!!! Also my birthday is in November so that’s big one 😉

I’m definitely already listening to Christmas music, 2016 has been kind of a sucky ear so I’m embracing the happy a little earlier than I usually do.
