I cannot believe the first month of the year has come and gone. It only seems like yesterday that I was writing my January edition of “10 Things to be Happy About.”

For those who haven’t read one of these posts before, I share 10 things I’m looking forward to in the upcoming month. I feel that expressing gratitude and appreciation for the little things is a huge part of who I am, so it only feels right to post these each month!

International Pancake Day:

Okay, so you don’t need one day out of the year to appreciate this lovely breakfast dish. (But it doesn’t hurt to fully participate, right?) Get your tummy ready on February 9th to enjoy unlimited pancakes in honor of this glorious celebration. I promise, you won’t regret it.

A short month:

If you prefer when the months fly by, February is most likely your favorite month. It’s nice to have a short and sweet month that comes and goes with little notice, especially in the dead of winter. If you’re looking forward to springโ€”it’ll be here before you know it!

Set a habit to do every day for the month:

Since there are only 28 days, it’s an opportunity to make a healthy habit stick. Whether you want to make flossing a priority, or if you want to set a sleeping scheduleโ€”give yourself a challenge to complete every day of the month. You’ll pick up a new habit and be a little healthier by March!

Love:

People are either on team Valentine’s Day or #ForeverAlone. Whatever team you’re on, remember that your relationship status doesn’t define you. Besides, February doesn’t have to be able loving a significant other; it can be about loving your mom, best friend or dog.

My Valentines:

Although my dad has been my number one and original Valentine for the last 21 years, I’ve gathered additional Valentines. My close friends are all a special part of my life, and we’ve always celebrated “Galentine’s Day” together with sushi, wine, dessert and chick flicks.

The Superbowl:

Even if you’re not into football, you can still appreciate The Superbowl. If you love eating tons of food for no reason, The Superbowl will definitely be a highlight for you in February. Besides, you have to at least appreciate the awesome commercials or the halftime show.

Take time to slow down:

Try to slow down and appreciate the little moments throughout the month. Whether it’s a coffee date with your best friend or a lovely dinner with your partner, we need to remember to take the time to enjoy every day of the monthโ€”no matter how short of a month it may be.

Random Acts of Kindness Day:

If spreading happiness to people is your forte, then February 17th in your holiday. Take a minute to do something kind for a coworker or a stranger. Mark Twain said it best: “Kindness is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” So, go do nice things for people.

Keeping up with the goals:

If you fell off track in January with your New Year’s resolutions, it’s time to get back on track and make February a better month. Whatever goals you made, commit to them and make a plan to ensure you’ll do better this month. You’ll thank me for this, I swear!

    • I couldn’t agree with you more, Abby! It’s definitely a day worth celebrating in my book! Now we need to make sure there are holidays for all the other delicious breakfast foods, too! ๐Ÿ™‚ So glad you enjoyed this post!

  • Pancake Day?! That will have to be a must in my book! I’m also starting to work on a few goals I’m starting this month, so looking forward to seeing what I can accomplish! Thanks for sharing

Great ideas, I have a feeling we will need all the help we can get. Feb is always a tough month to get through…but Spring is coming..

    • Renee,

Thanks so much for your comment! And just remember that spring isn’t far away. It can be difficult to push through the end of winter, but there will be god days as well!

These are great! Thanks for the reminder on some of these. I would have totally forgotten about the Superbowl… Wonder what day it’s on? Off to Google…

    • I feel like some people do forget about the SuperBowl because it comes and goes so quickly! It’s on the 8th this year–the day before International Pancake Day! So, you’ll have two days of hardcore eating to do.

    • It’s definitely worth adding to your calendar so you don’t forget! (somewhat kidding–Haha!) I’m so glad you enjoyed this post!

  • I have mixed emotions about the Superbowl! It’s right down the street from me, so while it’s fun to watch (and drink…and eat…and eat some more) – it’s going to be a hell week with traffic!!!

    • Yikes! That must be stressful! To be honest, I’m mainly in it for the good food and commercials myself. Who doesn’t want as excuse to eat and drink? Thanks for your comment, Shauna!

  • Definitely want to celebrate International Pancake Day, now! ๐Ÿ˜›
